UPDATE: Last time we were there (December 2021), they had stuff hanging for the hornets! Up to 5 stars they go!! I'll update (if they don't work) once the weather warms up, but they're listening to customers and that goes a long way!
Best Mexican food in Templeton/Atascadero/Paso Robles area! They don’t skimp on their meat or any ingredients, for that matter. They’re super hard working and always very nice. They get pretty busy on Taco Tuesday, but their tacos are worth it! My husband’s favorites are al pastor and carne asada, our daughter’s is the carne asada, and our son’s are the carnitas. My favorite is the chicken burrito. They have a red sauce and a green sauce, both of which are tasty, but we prefer the red because it’s spicier. It’s all outdoor seating and you have to buy your drinks from the store that it’s behind. The only downside is that when it’s warm out, there are quite a few hornets that want your food and it becomes a bit scary at times. They REALLY need to get some hornet bags or the hanging decoy hornet nests. We just take our food to go now but would love to be able to stay there and hang out. Hopefully they’ll address those buggers before the weather starts warming up again. Other than that, five stars all the way! I will change the rating to 5 once the hornets...
Read moreThe food is decent. Price is somewhere between average and high. $35 for three tacos, beans and rice and a burrito, chips and salsa, no drinks. They have all the good authentic menu options. There's no indoor seating; there are only tables under an awning next to the order window or picnic tables under a few umbrellas next to the parking lot which is adjacent to the other eating area. I recommend the place for takeout, but not dine in. In part because there are no drinks, at all. They'll send you to the store next door down to buy a drink. I'm hopeful this is just growing pains as it's not a sustainable way to bring in customers. The other reason is because we are in a really dry region and the ants in the summer are looking for water, sadly there are various potted flowers next to the picnic tables - which sounds nice - except that the table was scaling with ants. I had them on my arms and legs while eating and it was enough to kill my appetite. I''ll give it some time and try Aliyah's out again at some point since they have otherwise raving reviews and I would really like to try the...
Read moreNever to return! My dad ordered take out. First and last time we'll be purchasing. We didn't like the taste and portion in comparison to price. Burrito was mainly lettuce and tomato. Didn't feel like authentic Mexican food. Not much flavor. Maybe I'm spoiled and have grown up with authentic Mexican food. My grandparents also have had a restaurant for close to 50 years. A lot of recipes passed down throughout our ancestors. What made us feel bad was the service. As a precaution due to my mom having a low immune system we wear a mask for precaution everywhere we go. And the lady that took the order acted as we had the virus. It was just an awful feeling. Thankfully we've never...
