Asian Bistro — Restaurant in California

Tried this place out because the menu prices were a bit lower then fancier places in the area. Turned out to be totally not worth what they charge. Portions are small and the food was average at best. Does not come close to authentic Asian cooking. The sauce in the shrimp dish was saturated with corn starch and horribly cooked. No decent flavor and all and the white rice was over cooked and not worth the $2.00 extra she charged me. Compared to Chicago or NYC this place is garbage. By California standards possibly average since most places other than Michelin star places are lame. There cook I suspect is not Asian and poorly trained. Their property is outdated , the bathroom is sticky and smelly and the owner / manager is highly obnoxious and unprofessional except to her regular customers that have no experiences with well cooked Chinese food. Her family meal for 2 people was $45.00 and I asked if she could substitute her nasty cheese things for some egg roles ,and she said yes. With no prior notice she added $2 to the bill and the egg roles were like little twigs that had nothing in them. Please please please don’t goto this place unless you’re disabled and can’t make food at home. Totally lame restraunt and I’m stunned this place is even in business. Also her buns were not home made . Tasted like cheap store bought from ranch 59. I should have walked out but was too hungry to go else where. Totally horrible experience and the owner is cheap and a horrible manager. Also any place that closes at 8 pm should be total red flag as to quality of food. Noticed multiple code violations and I will be reporting them her for her obnoxious rip off attitude to charge for a simple substitution of a totally gross item she put on her family dinner. The waitress was very nice, spoke perfect clear English which was nice. The food was amazing! I have been looking for a place that has really good beef and broccoli ever since Jenny's palace in Folsom closed down. No other place even comes close to how Jenny's was, all except this one! Perfectly prepared melt in your mouth pieces of beef that we're so tender you wouldn't need teeth to eat. And perfectly cooked, and not overcooked slightly crunchy broccoli all in a not too much that it's soupy sauce that is too die for! They have Hong Kong style chow mein as a regular menu item and their general chicken is actually spicy instead of this typical sweet sauce that lacks any depth to it like so many other places around here. I never leave poor reviews. I usually only take the time when something is worth raving about. We were the only two In the restaurant. It took almost 10 min to even take our order. Didn’t bring water or anything. We ordered the family meal for two. The soup and egg roll were pretty good. Actually the only thing good about our meal. The rice and chow main were edible but our main course, broccoli beef was terrible. We let our server know that we were not pleased and all she said was it’s tender because it’s marinated.
