After learning about this place via the news, I was excited to try this place with a close friend who is an Egg's Benedict connoisseur of sorts. When we finally got a chance to go (there were 4 of us), we were extremely disappointed. Admittedly, give the number of high reviews, this could have just been a bad day for the chef, but we won't be going back.
Out of the 4 of us, 3 ordered a benedict menu item. While two of us are traditionalists and enjoy a perfectly runny yoke, one likes theirs cooked to about medium (solid, but with a little ooze). When we received our orders, all three eggs were hard-hard boiled (completely solid yoke). We had to send two plates back to get proper poached eggs, while the third just ate it despite being dissatisfied. When the plates were returned one had decently poached while the other was nearly completely raw (shouldn't have runny whites of the egg).
I had the Border Benedict, which comes with an english muffin, tomato slice, chorizo, avocado, salsa and the poached egg. Unfortunately, my entire plate was completely saturated in salsa "juice". The muffins were just soggy former relics and the country potatoes were bathing in water.
Another had the Irish Benedict which had Corned Beef for the meat. The meat was perfectly on point (I even tried it), however, he had the nearly raw egg and the hollandaise was plain awful. It was clear they use some sort of powdered hollandaise or perhaps powdered eggs to make it - very disappointing.
While the food was a completely let down, I will say the wait staff was great, the restaurant was clean and inviting, plus the drinks were good. Had the food been on point, this place would easily get 5 starts. Sadly, despite purporting itself as specializing in benedicts, our experience was a complete letdown. Two stars as the wait staff was good and the interior was pleasant, food unfortunately brings...
Read moreI had the worst experience here on Sunday (Mothers Day). I have been dying to eat here, so my husband took my mom and I here on Mothers Day. I tried so hard to give them the benefit of the doubt because it was busy. So this review will not talk about the wait time or how crowded it was or anything like that. I can forgive that, however I can not forgive the rest of the experience. Once we finally got our food the waitress was in such a hurry to pass out the plates, that she neglected to tell my husband that his skillet was hot! So he grabbed it and burned his thumb. He immediately put his thumb into his ice water for relief. The waitress said nothing! So I went up to the hostess, because all of the wait staff were busy. I went to her to ask if we could get some ice in a bag or something of that effect for his finger. Right next to the hostess was a man and he just ignored the whole convo, but heard it and acknowledged that I was there. Within minutes his finger was blistered and still burning. Our waiter brought out the ice with a packet of ointment for a burn and asked my husband to please put it on his thumb. Time went by and no one came out to talk to us or even ask if he was okay. I was shocked! I would have thought that at least the manager would have come and said something! ANYTHING!!! So I asked the waiter when we were leaving if the man at the front with the hostess was the manager and he said no, he was the owner!!! I was shocked.. Secondly I ordered one of the benedicts the food was cold and the English muffin was so hard that I could barley cut it with a knife, let alone my teeth. Needless to say, I am sad. I wanted to like this place and like I said I let a lot of stuff go that day, that I am not even writing about because they were so busy with Mothers day, but this I can't see past! I am so...
Read moreI love eggs Benedict so I was really excited to try this place. My friend and I came to celebrate my birthday. I ordered the Smokey Ben and my friend ordered the Sope Benedict. Both of us were pleased with portion size and appearance but that's where our pleasure ended. This place is new but I think they bit off more than they can chew.
Food was mediocre and service was terrible. The place needs to rework their recipes and tighten up the line cooks. Servers need to acknowledge customers sooner, check on them more frequently, especially if food is going to take an hour to come out, and make sure they know the menu enough to help customers order. The only thing this place seems to have going is the novelty of giant mimosa glasses meant to be shared.
Overall complaints: Time for being treated once seated about 16 minutes from when we started watching
Time from ordering to receiving food: 58 minutes Received wrong side and only came to check on us once and that was before we tried anything and could send back the eggs for being partially raw.
Taste of the food: poor - the sope had no real flavor. The Smokey Ben salmon was possibly poached and over salted texture and taste was significantly off
Preparation of the food: poor - eggs under cooked (both orders) bacon considerably over cooked and meat in both dishes was...
