Alright, I’m eating my burger as I type this review. This place is fantastic and I could not wait to finish my food to type!
The short: great burger place! Do not pass on this truck. Hot Link Burger is amazing!
UPDATE: I went back 2 days later and grabbed the mushroom burger. 5/5! Amazing burger! I did ask for a double patty. Added a photo! Must try! The long: Banderas Burger Grill is a food truck located North of the River (cross the Chester Abe bridge across the Kern River, into Oildale).
I work downtown Bakersfield, so I’m always on the lookout for good places to eat. I have heard of this Burger truck before, but often passed up on it to grab a burger from other local downtown eatery. Today was one of those days where I wasn’t inspired by anything, so I asked my coworkers for suggestions. “Banderas Burgers!” ehhh I’m not feeling burgers though! But I was starving, so I check out the menu on Google and HOT LINK BURGER is the first thing I see. Something different, and the photos looked great! BBG does phone orders. I called and ordered the Hot Link Burger, no pickles, add lettuce and tomato, with a side of fries. Easy to order over the phone, the person taking my order was respectful and professional. They said my order will be ready in 10 minutes (I ordered at 11:15am before lunch rush). As soon as I arrived, my order was ready to go! BBG takes cash, card, and it looks like mobile payments as well (Apple pay, Google Pay).
My burger did not come with tomato’s though I specifically asked for them to be added, it did however have the lettuce. I didn’t worry too much about the missing tomato’s because this burger was AMAZING! I am a big fan of hot-link sandwiches from BBQ places. BBG not only had a great burger and patty, their hot links tasted great! The fries are a little skinnier than your normal fries, but thicker than thin match stick fries. Great taste! Decently priced!
Area: easy in and out access to the truck. The truck is on a property with a convenience store. There is outdoor seating, unsure if their is a bathroom on site. The truck seems clean and the parking lot was clean as well.
I will be making Banderas Burger Grill one of my regular...
Read moreAmbiance: Burger truck in a church parking lot. Picnic tables with a shade enclosure over them. Clean tables, and friendly staff. Food: Fries were crisp and perfectly salted. Burger was a work of art: veggie toppings were fresh and carefully arranged. I got the jalapeno/pineapple burger. The only negative: the beef patty. It was about 1/8" thick after cooking, thinner than the slices of jalapeno, way thinner than the pineapple slice. Made me think of the old "Where's the beef?" commercials from the 80s. A burger with so much potential, yet there was a wee little McDonald's style beef patty bringing a 5 star burger down to 3 stars; what a shame. It was almost a vegetarian experience, with so many great toppings, but so little cow. The price is really low, which is probably a great draw for customers wanting a combo under $10, but I'd gladly drop $2.00 more on a burger that's a bit more beefy....
Read moreBanderas burgers have never disappointed me. This last visit I had a bacon cheese burger (bacon added separately, since the only bacon burger on the menu is a Western) no tomato, with easy lettuce. The sautéed onion mixed with the melted cheese that oozes over the side onto the wrapping, brings everything together perfectly down to the last bite. The onion rings were Fantastic! Golden and crispy, and tender enough to bite through without pulling the onion out of its batter... who likes that?? If you're on the East Side and looking for a burger fix, Banderas is the place be.
On the corner of Mt. Vernon & Virginia Ave. Burger meal w/ side and a canned...
