Ordered the smothered chicken, greens and green beans. Hubby had catfish, yams and Mac and cheese. Let’s start with the location. Perfect location. Good seating. Quick service. Everyone was so nice! Reminds of my grandmothers house. Old school. I was looking for the plastic couch. (In a good way #memories) As for the food… mac and cheese was the best we ever had. Ever! Greens could easily rival mine. So so good. The smothered chicken and catfish were seasoned to perfection. Large portions too. Now the not so good. Them green beans and yams came straight out the can with not one ounce of seasoning, tailoring, or flavoring. I so wish they were great like the rest of the meal but not so. Even with that minor misstep this is probably one of the best soul food spots I’ve ever been to and trust me I’ve traveled. I highly recommend stopping in, stepping back into grandmas livingroom and enjoying a meal made with so much love. Edit: how dare I forget the peach cobbler!?!?!? Baaaaabyyyyy. When I say slaps? That cobbler slapped. Get some!!!

Ordered the “chicken gumbo” Sunday evening and got home to see I received what looks like hog slop! First off, gumbo is a soup base, who puts that in a plate? Next, the ingredients were terribly cheap, there were cut hotdogs in it? Hot dogs?!? Sausage, yes, but hot dogs?! There was frozen vegetables dumped into this disgusting mess they call "chicken gumbo". The mac & cheese had a strange smell and had zero seasonings in addition to being made with what seemed to be Kraft cheese product, not real cheddar. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. This is not what “soul food” is supposed to be! Absolutely disgusting!!!! Do us all a favor and close this business before you make someone sick!!

California vibes with southern hospitality with good ol ol ol southern home cooked meals. I had 2 fried catfish and red snapper dinner with 2 sides, which includes something to drink. The food was so excellent, the fish was not over fried with the perfect amount of seasonings. Collard greens were cooked to perfection, not too mushy but not hard either, and of courses you have the 3 options to choose from. Cornbread is both fluffy and crispy on the edges and savoring with every bite. Butter cake moist and not overly sweet. Arnold palmer drink was good also. This place is an absolute gem

Ok imma a sister with a lotta soul and love food. I ordered a lot of food because I been craving home cooked meal and I’m on vaca and can’t cook in my hotel. I ordered talapia, catfish nuggets, smothered chicken, meatloaf, Cabbage with meat, potatoes, pork greens and chicken greens, sweet potatoes oh and Mac and cheese. It’s so difficult to say this because I don’t like to knock a business. That’s three meals. It was about 60 bucks and that’s a good price. However the food, the greens are ok, cabbage decent, meatloaf taste different like it’s the kind that’s ground beef and pork combined. However it smell slightly fleshy but taste ok. Idk if you know what that mean and idk what causes that smell but I hate it. It smell fleshy. The Mac and cheese very soft and it’s a 2/10. The potatoes decent. Ok ok the talapia fire 8/10, catfish nuggets 8/10. The smothered chicken idk why but my chicken was taking me a long time to break it down while chewing it. It was chewy the gravy decent. The chicken too smelt fleshy as well. The cornbread 8/10.OMG the juice I got three lemonade, pineapple cherry, and sweet tea. The sweet tea good. Them other ones, capital STRAIGHT TRASH. In fact they need not even waste they time and people money. It taste like straight flavored water. If they say we got lemon flavored water and cherry plus mystery pineapple flavored water it’ll be on point. Honestly I can’t believe they waste the cup on that flavored water. Hey I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I’m not satisfied with this food. I can see people who can’t cook or old folks, white folks, people who do t know our food like this. If I go back it’llbe for the fish and fish only. I hope to God these lil cups wasn’t potato salad. It’s like mayo flavored...

Do not spend your patience with the current staff that is employed at Bankhead as 2/27/2021 I will not be returning. The young lady was very talkative, but not informative. We waited an additional twenty minutes for our order that was supposed to be ready at 5:30. Only to be informed and let me quote her,"We ain't got no more bbq chicken. We just ran out",end quote. So when I asked her,"When I first spoke with you and gave you my online order information, why didn't you mention at that time? She proceeded to blame the online order process on a Bankhead employee, that is working from home, while she is on maternity leave. Then this same young lady leaves the restaurant to vent to another male in a waiting burgundy mini van about my complaint. So not only did I not get what I ordered, but there could potentially be an angry man in a burgundy mini van out to get me. I can't go back there, even if the restaurant is named after the state I was born in.

That's not how we get...
