Blue Cow Deli — Restaurant in California

My wife and I ordered a Spicy Cow Panini and a Southwest Chicken Salad at 1:49 according to my receipt from a less than friendly (slightly surly) young woman cashier. At 2:30 the food arrived.

Forty one minutes for a salad and sandwich??? When I commented to her about the long wait, the response was that they were really swamped. When I mentioned that there was only one family of four in line in front me she replied that they got a lot of phone in orders. I asked her if those got priority over people like me who are in the deli. She turned and huffed off with no response.

When the couple who were in line behind me got their order fairly well later, their comment was "finally"!

The sandwich was pretty good but the Southwest Chicken Salad had a very few and very small cubes of chicken in it and not much else other than lettuce. My family calls such a serving a Honeymoon Salad (lettuce alone).

I gave it two stars rather than one only because the panini was fairly good.

Considering this is one of only a few restaurant options in PV I can see why there are so many good reviews.

I found the sandwich to be mediocre and bland, tasting like something I could make at home. Prices should be lower, but they have the market cornered. I feel spoiled to have access to better sandwich places like Jersey Mikes, Mendocino Farms, Erik’s DeliCafe, etc where I live.

Bathrooms were dirty and toilet would not flush. The lever was non functional. The lady before me left a yellow surprise. I was more considerate and plunged til it went down.

Restaurant felt humid/stuffy like they have no A/C.

I can't fairly judge the food since i didn't eat, i was joining my friends. The atmosphere is very cold and i had to stay very bundled up. Didn't have smiles from staff. The smell is what turned me off from ordering anything, i don't know if it's an issue with venting but our clothes were saturated with it all day, embarrassing type of odor. Now i don't doubt that the food is tasty, I'm sure it's a fabulous local hang out but being that I'm also not a local, i won't be finding myself return.
