Carlock's Bakery — Restaurant in California

I have been coming to this bakery for most of my life. In the beginning, with the original owners, it was the best bakery I had ever been to. In fact, that bakery that no longer exists is still the best bakery I've ever been to.

The bakery declines further with every change of ownership. I believe it's on Owner #3.

At this point, the owners have stripped the bakery of its' funky outdated 80's vibe, which worked a lot better than what is happening now. The quality of the food is also gone.

The flavors are disappointing, and the food is often stale. A recent pumpkin cupcake, for example, was so dry and flavorless that if I had closed my eyes you could have told me it was just about any other flavor and I wouldn't have argued. That's pretty hard to accomplish with pumpkin spice.

That was the last time I visited and it will probably be my last visit to this bakery. I would only ever go back if I was keeping a family member or friend company, not to eat myself.

The prices are very high and it's simply not worth the price, or...

A few times I have actually gone to this bakery I have been unhappy I've been to this bakery before and and during the pandemic Before the pandemic some of the stuff actually had a taste to it as of recently it has gotten worse and when we come in might me and my family we end up usually having to wait in a line because it's out the door well why don't you speed up customer service so you can get people in and out and not have a crowd form outside your door waiting to get in Now I've had the ham and cheese croissant before the pandemic it was marginally good now during the pandemic it's absolutely bad I've asked the place if they have a chocolate crisis and I have never gotten a straight answer out of anybody that is my favorite croissant other places carry them

I do appreciate the plastic they have put up to keep everybody safe staff members in public and the other things they're doing to stay open but if your food is not going to be good fix that please so I found somewhere else to...

NEW OWNERS as of Sept. 2021, I just found this out now being July 2022 and I'M BACK! It was the husband and wife team working and I especially like their bread choices and prices! A changing variety from $4-$6 and they'll slice it if you ask.Cranberry pecan and olive rosemary to name a couple, great flavor and a good size loaf too . What's up with our other local bakers charging double that?! The couple is very friendly and polite unlike the former owners and that's what has kept me from going back. All the prices have remained very fair and the variety is good and the product looks better than ever. A nice big portion of bread pudding has my name on it for 4 bucks next time I go in. So glad we have some new owners who obviously really care. The Carlocks I use to love is back! And PS the day old bread rack is half...
