Food is pretty good, however there are some service issues that really bring the experience down:
First of all, they apparently no longer accept pick up orders over the phone, forcing one to drive there, order in person, then take up space in the front end waiting for your order.
When ordering, I kept being asked "Is that all" after every item I ordered, making me feel rushed even though no one was in line behind me. A minor annoyance but still.
A major annoyance is the nickel a diming: One dollar extra for oatmilk in your coffee, and two dollars for potatoes in a breakfast burrito, neither of which will be mentioned unless you specifically ask if it costs extra. I was asked if I wanted potatoes in my breakfast burrito, which of course I do, but was not told thay there was a two dollar additional charge for potatoes and had no idea until I got the receipt. If there is an additional charge the customer should be told up front when placing the order. That's besides the fact that potatoes are a super cheap ingredient, certainly much cheaper than bacon, eggs or cheese which the restaraunt should be happy about filling the burrito with instead of more expensive ingredients, and certainly not charge two extra dollars for a couple spoonfuls of potatoes. Same story with oatmilk. I asked if they had oatmilk, they said yes. I then had to ask if there was an extra charge as it seemed like they were not going to volunteer that information during the transaction.
Lastly, when we brought the food home the outside of the containers were covered in bits of random food and cheese. Understand someone has to package these back up in a busy kitchen, but a quick wipedown to make sure the containers aren't disgusting is a small attention to detail that shouldn't be too much to ask.
The food is honestly good, and it's a nice place, but it could be a lot better if they implemented some small changes:
... or if not....
Train the staff to be upfront about extra charges for during the transaction so the customer is not surprised, and to not needlessly rush the customer.
Brought back phone/pickup orders
Wipedown or otherwise keep to go boxes at least...
What a totally cool place❣️I came here for a healthier opinion for espresso style coffee. My current opinions for flavored drinks will not be any with cane or the yellow, pink, or blue sugar substitutes...even have to be careful with the green ones, but that's too involved to add "why" here. I need to start a blog about that. So, Mexican mocha is my choice, if I can have it made with chocolate powder, or an unsweetened liquid (powdered is usually the safest for me because I can't have soy, corn, or wheat of any kind...due to health concerns). Starbucks is not an option because of that, so I typically look for a specialty place like this one, and would rather give them my business anyway. Back to why this place ROCKS, super tasty Mexican mocha w/o evil sugars, best one I've had out this way. My daughter loved her drink. She also found a vegan muffin for her husband (due to food allergies)...the blueberry one was good❣️They had a great selection of baked goods to choose from. We look forward...
Read moreCame for a coffee after lunch at The Homestead, which I was informed was a sister business to this one. Immediately I was intrigued by all the packaged good- grabbed a 4 each lemon drop/small muffiny things with an icing- a peanut butter brownie and a mocha cake. As I always do at a new place, I plead confused so the drinks need to be explained to me….and I was impressed- several staff jumping in to explain drinks and their favorites , I choose a blended caramel something- and it was perfection for my drive home! The lemon things were scrumptious- I will always include these in my treats pick up. The brownie was, at my doing, served refrigerator cold, so the flavors were not there. Next time I must remember to take out BEFORE dinner. The mocha cake was OUTSTANDING. I am stoked to have stumbled on this place- and am horrified to now have to share my loyalty to Gina’s Piece of Cake with Cups & Crumbles! ...
