Went to Don Luis at 8 pm, and they close at 9 pm, and the staff was preparing for close. However, when we came in, we were greeted with open arms!
I shared that it was my wife's first visit to Don Luis, and she was excited to try it. The chef, Fernando, was taking a break but quickly hopped into action. I asked him if shrimp was available tonight, and he said ohh yes.
My wife ordered two shrimp tacos, rice, and beans. I ordered something off the menu. I ordered Shrimp Diablo, but I wanted it over their salad plate along with extra Diablo sauce to be used as dressing. Turn it up a notch please, I asked.
Fernando didn't disappoint! This man is a true chef! Anything he makes is delicious! Debs shrimp tacos were not only presented beautifully, but were amazing!
Now my Shrimp Diablo was over the top in flavor with a hot bite of chili! Ohh my goodness, Fernando is the man! What an awesome chef.
I really like their Chili Verde, and everything is good but order shrimp if Fernando is cooking, he is the shrimp master!
Thank you all at Don Luis! You make us feel welcome, and service...
Read moreThis is one of the areas best spots for Mexican cuisine. The well known restaurant by the same name in Ione brought their signature flavor up to Jackson and with some creativity put together an easily accessible well thought out place with all the amenities of their main location. Their fare is easily the most amazing authentic Mexican experience around and well worth the trip. The prices are a little on the higher end with your base plate starting around $10-$15, and ranging upwards from there. But never the less their food can't be beat. They offer all the traditional plates plus a host of dishes that can only be found there which allows for a variety of options that will never leave you unsatisfied. A favorite for my family and I is the carne asada fries which are large enough to share between two people for about $15. If you get the chance to stop by I would seriously recommend that you do, for sure you won't be...
Read moreTook the family out to dinner at their location in Jackson. This location is merely a taco truck setup with limited outdoor/indoor seating. My experience with taco trucks is that they normally have some of the best most authentic Mexican food you can find. Unfortunately, this place is far from good. Besides getting our order wrong (which is simply human error and completely understandable) the food was so extremely salty, that we couldn’t eat it. Also, the food looked like it had been sitting for quite sometime. I figured that this may explain the saltiness (as a preservative). All in all, I have bought frozen TV dinner enchiladas that I would prefer over this place any day! I wanted so badly to like this place, as I live less than a half mile from it and pass it each time we leave the house. Sadly, this food probably the worst I have...
