This bakery has been our favorite throughout Watsonville for sure! Even after 11 years of moving from Watsonville my family and I continue to order bread from there when we go visit. I was recently in Watsonville vacationing and placed a big order of cookies and diamonds to bring back home and share with my family. Long story short I was short 120 cookies out of 200 I ordered. I honestly didn't even think of counting the entire order because I trusted they'd all be there and because time was limited. Upon calling the bakery I spoke with a lady who was very nice and apologized for what happened. She said she'd talk to the owner and see if he'd send them to me in the mail. I was able to speak to the owner 2 days later and ask if he was going to send them. He was extremely careless and rude! He said he wasn't sending them because it'd be too expensive to send to me. He said it was going to be around $30 dollars to send them which is hard to believe because I never even gave them my address. He didn't even apologize! He said I could get my money back but that's all he'd be able to do. Of course I was going to drive 12 hours to pick it up so I told him I'd send my uncle. I said I'd give him my uncle's name so he knew who'd be there to pick it up. His response was give it to the girl instead because I'm busy! I was totally speechless! I guess lesson learned! Always count your order because you might get ripped...
Read moreI placed and order for conchas for drive thru baby shower as family was gonna be coming out of town and they loved their bread. I showed up at 9am when I was told that it would be 40 minutes for them to be ready. I was upset but non the less I came back an hour later and I was told again 20 minutes. The conchas were already laid for so I told the girl that I had to go home and would be back in an hour. I walked in an hour later to be told it would be another 20 minutes for the conchas to be ready. When I confronted them and told them that this was the 3rd time I had came and that there was a reason I had placed the order for 9am not 1145am l they told me was that they had sold the conchas I had ordered, again even tho they were paid for. I got my money back and I will no longer be giving...
Read moreNothing like El Nopal Bakery. My family and I continue to support this local, family, owned business since the late 80's. Although bread may not taste as it once did, it is still delicious and far better than the competition! Conchas, semitas, de trigo, empanadas, de piña and calabasa, and galletas are our favorites.
Also, don't forget about their tortillas de harina, they fluff up when heated and taste amazing.
Everyone around the Watsonville area know about "El Nopal" for their high quality pastries and affordable prices but, above all, for their commitment to the community generation after...
