When you first come in, there's a coat rack next to the door. The layout is a bit weird. There's a waiting area to the right with limited seating. There's seating (tables, not booths) in a separate room directly in the back and an awkward booth facing the waiting area. There's some seating right next to the cash register for a party of 2 or people coming by themselves. Those are the only tables actually facing a TV, but they're also right in front of the kitchen. Staff will constantly be walking in front of you or having their backsides turned to you. All the other booths are along the wall on the left side. The ones next to the window are for small parties, and the ones next to the kitchen have more room for bigger parties. If you want to watch TV in those seats, you'd have to turn your neck to the left or right.
When it comes to the food, I think it's pretty good. I've had their eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, and strawberries. I don't like that the fruit topping for the waffles comes hot. The waffles get all soggy. I just ask for fresh fruit, which are the strawberries. They do give enough whipped cream, butter, and syrup for the waffles. The food is pretty affordable, and the portions are nice.
For the drinks, I've only had their mimosas. They taste great, but they're more like juice. I hardly taste any sparkling wine.
The service is okay. The food comes out relatively quickly, but when you need a staff member, it takes a while to get their attention. Even when I'm done eating and waiting for the check, it can take several minutes. It's very awkward to stand at the register and wait for a staff member to ring you (and a couple of other people) up on the weekend because there's already a lot people in the waiting area, so there's just a crowd of people standing there.
Overall, I do like this place. I'll have to come back to try stuff on...
Read moreI was in LOVE with this place until today. I saw the customers next to our table had literally left all of their food and unfortunately we did the same. The corned beef hash was warmed right out of a can. Therefore the consistency and taste resembles what I feed my dog. It was a mushy and salty disappointment. However, it was seasoned unlike everything else. Now, country potatoes come with certain expectations. There were no onions, no bell peppers, and zero seasoning. The potatoes were cut way too thick to cook evenly through and without being seasoned during the cooking process they were bland with a baby carrot firmness. The blueberry pancakes that I fell in love with over 2 years ago were almost perfect. What I loved about them previously was how the amount of whipped cream balanced the tartness of the berries. Today there was not enough whipped cream to top a hot chocolate. Just a small dollop which made the acidity a bit overwhelming for me after one bite. I truly feel the food is now catered towards the community the restaurant resides in. It's an older area of Sacramento with quite a few senior living centers...which is fine! They will continue to get those customers, but they won't be gaining any new ones..and have just lost two more. There is a lot of competition in the area and would rather wait in line at Sarom's Southern Kitchen for 30mins just to get a table at this point. There is a reason there is a long wait there...and it's now their low prices. Quality...
Read more4.5 stars, we had the Italian crepes, eggs, hash browns, sausage , bacon, and pecan banana waffles. The Italian Crepes were so good, and the vanilla they use was so perfect that it tasted like a hazelnut bourbon sauce, the crepes themselves were cooked perfectly as well. If you’re a fan of savory and sweet, it’s perfect for you. The waffle was perfect as well, and both had a great whipped cream that accompanied the flavored well. Bananas perfectly ripe too. Sausage actually had flavor, and did not taste like I’m drinking maple syrup or bitting into a salt brick, and it was moist as well apart being cooked to golden perfection. Bacon was great although one piece was salty. The hash browns were cooked perfectly! Great crust on both sides and nice and softly cooked internally, although a bit more seasoning could be appreciated , but that’s just personal preference. Now the egg, THE EGG! Where no restaurant can cook an egg correctly, my over medium egg was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY, no slime, and not over cooked either. This place deserves 4.5 stars. I highly recommend.
Oh yeah, staff was awesome! Thanks for...
