I used to love this place. It was once a really an elevated dining experience in East County and we recommended it to everyone. We went tonight and we knew immediately that it was going to be off. It took almost an hour to get salad. The wagyu appeared after a total 60+ total minutes. There was no seasoning at all and the whole AA wagyu tasted simply of oil and char. Our dining companion ordered a New York strip which was seasoned nicely, but far too bloody for the medium cook range he ordered. When we tried to point this out to a manager, he simply told us that was how they cooked mediums. When the bill came, it showed "medium rare" under the order line. It was obvious that the manager just didn't want to admit with additional mistakes on their part. To top everything off, the mashed potatoes were also reminiscent of glue. I will say the wedge salad and the oysters were really nice. Once upon a time this was a good place...
I don't get to get out as much as I once did, and I was really excited to have a nice meal. Unfortunately, this was the opposite. It's probably the third time in a row that I have been underwhelmed, but the first time I left angry. If I come back, it will only be for drinks with Seph, who was the saving grace of the evening. He...
Read moreMy husband and I went to Grove Steakhouse for the first time with friends. We were very excited because we had heard so many positive things about this restaurant. We drove from Menifee to dine there. Our experience was not pleasant. We were served incredibly slowly, and my dish was so cold that I had to return it. When it came time to pay our bill, the waitress requested for my husband's identity so that it could be matched to his credit card. In all of my dining experience, we have never been required to display it when paying a bill. We had wine and Champagne, so why weren't we asked to show our IDs? I told the waitress that “this was a first.” Her reply was, “This is to prevent children from using their parents' credit cards". This response made no sense to us. It makes us wonder if we were profiled based on race. I'd like to see the Grove Steakhouse's policy on customers paying their bill. This was humiliating because I didn't notice the table next to me being carded while paying their bill. This will be the first and last time dining at...
Read moreIf you haven't been to the new Grove Steakhouse, you need to! Aside from being the best value in SoCal, it's the most amazing food to be found. It's true that the high ceilings make it much more spacious feeling and some would say a bit less intimate, but it is also not nearly as loud as the old location which the makes it more intimate as far as I'm concerned. The fireplaces really add to the ambiance and they have room for large parties now. The best addition is the weekend brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Amazing! There isn't a bad option on the menu. Smoked salmon bagel with a twist or crab benedict or steak and eggs...you can't go wrong with the food. The bartenders (shout out to Kendall and Drew!) Margaritas, long islands, martinis, etc. are all super delicious and very reasonably priced. The servers and waitstaff (Joseph, Chuy, Anthony, and Alex) and all top shelf. Rafael, don't ever stop doing what you do! You run a tight ship, and your aim for perfection shows. Thank you all for showing up every day and showcasing...
