Let me start off by saying that this is probably some of the BEST INDIAN food I have ever tasted in the US. The food quality is spectacular for every Indian dish I have had here. So why did I only give this place 3 stars? TLDR: The service is atrocious.
I'm a white guy who likes spicy food. In all 3 of my experiences there, I tried to order spicy curries, and the waiter would repeatedly insist that I order medium instead of spicy, and when the food finally came, it wasn't even that spicy. I'm not sure if this is just what spicy is over there, but I seriously would not be surprised if he intentionally just put the order in as medium.
Now some of you might think I'm a Karen for that one, but that isn't the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. During one of my visits I ordered some calamari for the table, and although on the menu the item said that the dish would come with pakoras, we were not given any pakoras, and the quality of the calamari is terrible. These guys are fantastic at Indian food, but this made me cautious enough to not order anything there that wasn't Indian food. Several appetizers there have not been very generous with their quantities for the price, but the Naan bread is probably the best I've ever had in my life.
Another reason for this review is the amount of time I had to wait for my order. In the two hours I sat at the table, we only had our waters refilled once, and the food itself took well over an hour to get to our table. In all occasions, there were less than 3 parties present and I can't seem to mentally justify why, at the very least, Naan bread and tandoori chicken for the table would take more than 30 minutes to arrive.
I figured, why not just doordash from this place? That way I don't have to deal with any of these issues right? Well that would be fine and dandy if it wasn't for the fact that they have significantly marked up all of the doordash prices, and a meal that costs $50 in house ends up costing $75 before delivery fees.
I will continue to come here, but only if I'm REALLY craving high quality Indian food and have the patience to endure an extreme wait. Otherwise, there are plenty of other restaraunts that offer similar quality for different cuisines.
I really hope you guys read this and reflect on your service accordingly, because I really enjoy the food here. I'll happily upgrade my review if I see these...
Read moreThis was a fun restaurant! Few restaurants spend time to decorate like this one. Sure, some might say it was too much or a bit kitsch, but I think it made it original. They even turned on some traditional Indian music! There's really not much I'd have done to improve the ambiance other than maybe burning some incense, hiding the cleaning supply storage area, and maybe making better use of their side bar area.
Place was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Seating was comfortable. I will say the table to seat height ratio was a bit off. It was comfortable for me, but I'm tall and I felt kinda like a kid. I was with a few people not as tall as me and they felt it more, but it wasn't uncomfortably so...but it would be hard for smaller kids without a booster seat or something.
I will say that this is not fast food! It was a long wait. We were the only ones eating there, so I expected faster food, but it all came out around 30mins later, maybe more. Not that big a deal because we weren't in a hurry, but others would have a problem, I'm sure. I personally want this place to thrive, because it is a really cool place, so my advice to them is to bring out dishes as they are ready, rather than all at once or at least offer a free appetizer of some kind to tide people over, like they do with chips and salsa at some Mexican restaurants. It doesn't have to be expensive or time consuming, but just something to show progress and keep people happy. It might be a good idea to have a lunch buffet or standard pre-made dishes for delivery/take-out/those in a hurry. From a customer's point of view, just make sure you have time and are with understanding people. Believe me, the food is good!
There are lots of menu items and all that we had were delicious! We asked for mild, because some in are group were sensitive, and it actually was very mild, but still full of flavor. When asked they also gave us some spicy curry on the side for those who wanted more heat. Food tasted fresh. Naan and roti came...
Read moreSpent $220 and fed my family of 6 with food to take home. (And had two strawberry lemonade -pineapple buchanan beverages) The Food is delicious. My father in law used to deliver halaal chicken all throughout the bay area and locally. He would bring food home for us to try- according to my wife (who has had plenty of Indian food) this restaurant is by far the best. Flavorful and rich- each dish carries its own weight packed with outstanding deliciousness! So good I scraped my plate (and I am not the one to ever choose Indian food).
The vast menu provides all the right options for any pallet or picky eater. Everything is created with pride, intention and made to order.
The service is top tier! Very welcoming and friendly.
We appreciated that water is served in copper pitchers so you know your water is high vibrational. (Very important detail so many may miss)
Family style servings with gold utensils make you feel like you are having a special experience. (And in truth- to eat well made food- you are)
The atmosphere alone is enough to keep you in the Indian gaze for hours without hesitation. It takes you on a journey through India for sure! With floor to ceiling decor- and countless paintings, LED lighting and chandeliers catching your attention- you will be completely missing out to only Door Dash this incredible experience.
Anything less than 5 stars is hate. Go with a date or with a large family such as ours and you will NEVER be disappointed! This is a hidden gem not meant for the ungrateful.
We will be back! Indian 4 U is really and...
