I went there to get food to go (it was late at night and they're across the street from my sister's house). Explained that it was TO GO. The bartender said he could do my to go order but most people don't order to go's so he will do his best.
He messed up my order by giving me chicken instead of Shrimp, not a HUGE deal because he fixed it immediately. However, he didn't give me a BAG to put my to go boxes in, he said he didn't have any. NOT ONE BAG. Lol what kind of an establishment doesn't have ANY bags?!
And then when I asked for cocktail sauce for my shrimp he handed me a large bottle, knowing my order is to go. I asked if he had something I could put the cocktail sauce in BECAUSE MY ORDER IS TO GO. And he shrugged and said sarcastically, "it's a bar, we dont really do to go orders". This bothered me because the FIRST thing I asked is could he do to go orders and he said he would make it work. Implying someone is ridiculous for wanting their to go items in a bag and with the sauces they need to enjoy it AFTER they paid and tipped you and AFTER you said you could do to go orders is poor customer service. The LEAST he could have done was apologized and said, "I misjudged and we don't have the stuff needed to complete your to go order, this is the best I could do." Not snarkily say, "it's a bar (what did you expect)".
Btw, the food was decent. Not bad. And the shrimp was coconut shrimp. It did not say that on the menu. I hate coconut shrimp, but luckily for me, it wasnt overwhelmingly sweet.
Also one of the patrons in the bar approached my sister and I and said "a lot of colored people don't live around here, but the few who do we suspect are to blame for recent robberies, but if you're nice and friendly to us we're nice and friendly to you..." The sad part is, she didn't know how racist and unwelcoming she was, even with a smile plastered on her face. If she's any indication of the rest of the patron's there, then no thanks.
This isn't the type of bar I would frequent. Nor would I...
Read moreThe Bar: Located in a strip mall on a main street, which, a few blocks down, a DUI Checkpoint hosted by Orangevale's finest, but that didn't stop this dive from rockin. I arrived shortly after 8pm and this place was packed. A live band on stage and a crowd of people on the dance floor. It immediately felt like home. The Crowd: All types, from the retired crowd to the college crowd and everyone in between. Service: Fairly prompt for how busy it was. We got the "Who the hell are you" look since we were faces, but once I introduced myself the service was quick the rest of the evening. No pitchers and no PBR was a bummer but I made it through. Prices: This is where I failed. I opened a tab and forgot to get pricing. I had 3 Fireball Whisky shots, 4 glasses of Coors Light draft (which tasted a bit sour), and 7 bottles of Coors Light. Yeah, I had a bit... totaling $46.00. You do the math. Entertainment: Tonight was a live band by the name of Running With Scissorz. Pretty decent cover band minus singing Green Day, honestly, lets leave that one to the artist. There is also an internet jukebox, and I heard someone mention they have karaoke, but no clue on the night. Shuffle board, electronic darts, 3 TV's. Restroom: Not too terrible. Kept up pretty good through out the night. Closing statement: I would recommend this spot to anyone who is in the area. I absolutely plan a return visit next time I...
Read moreI absolutely love this bar and find myself there just about every Thursday for line dancing and sometimes on Fridays for swing dancing. Everyone here is super friendly and caring and always willing to help someone like myself learn a new dance or move. Sarah the dance instructor is amazing! She is super friendly and a genuine human who’s very inclusive regardless of your dance level. She’s a great teacher and I have loved learning new moves and dances from her.
The only reason I gave Jan’s 4 stars instead of 5 is that when a lot of people are dancing the bar gets sooooo hot. They could benefit from getting 2 industrial fans to keep the bar from getting too hot or smelly from everyone...
