I was there on Friday 9/26 with my daughters and friend for dinner at 7pm. It was odd right when i first walked in. Something didn't feel right. We waited and waited. Finally a young man hesitantly seated us. And again, we waited and waited in our booth. A very eager young lady, I'm assuming she was new because she was the only friendly lady to approach our table and the only reason why we were served, as the server who was serving our table ignored us. The server came to our table and abruptly took our order, however she could not contain her eyeball movements. I asked her for a drink, and she rolled her eyes, after she took our order she rolled her eyes, when we asked if we can order appetizers, she rolled her eyes. There is a pattern here: I HAD to ASK for water, I HAD to ASK for drink, I HAD to ASK for her to take our order AND she rolled her eyes every time as if I was bothering her!! Again this was 7pm and it was not busy. All 4 of us ladies who were looking forward to a girls night out, were shocked and it really put a damper on our evening. WE picked this restaurant because we wanted to go have fun, laugh, chat, catch up. But the attitude of many of the workers, (besides the eager new girl) was so negative it really ruined the night. I felt as if I was putting the Server out. I have been a customer of Cascada in Placerville for years and have had so many amazing memories of celebrating birthdays, small business events, and just Friday night cocktails, I was super excited to find out about Los Pinos. And for the most part have had satisfactory experiences. However, the way we were treated on Friday 9/26, was enough to make me never want to go back.
Overall the food was OK, but I was so irritated by this ladies behavior i was not feeling it once the food came out. I really struggled over leaving this review, but this restaurant has so much potential and I would hate to see this place close down as so many restaurants in Cameron Park do. We need good places for drinks after work, dinner with family etc. If I go back, I hope I do not see...
Read moreI have been here about 5 times since the new ownership. It continues to get worse. Last night my wife ordered tamales and they were store bought dried out & microwaved then smothered in canned tomato sauce with sauteed onions and bell peppers like you might find on pasta.
My enchiladas were supposed to be chicken but they brought ground beef. The avocado had a black spot and they just served it anyway. The food took way took long to come to the table.
Over all... seems penny pinching is a bigger concern than providing fast service with quality dishes that the chef takes pride in. This place is a joke. Not returning!
EDIT: We heard there is a new chef at Los Pinos so we decided to give them another go. = Nope nope nope! Unfortunately same results regarding food flavor, plating & overall atmosphere.
I ordered chicken tacos. Seems simple but the chicken didn't have a lick of seasoning. I was expecting at least cumin, coriander and salt. Shredded would have been nice but they were frozen tenders seared on the cook top in oil. Ya, not even butter. The black beans were just plain with melted cheddar. Should have been cotija cheese and the beans could have been fortified by adding sauteed onion and diced red bell pepper. The Spanish rice was good and the margarita but that's where it ended.
No stars. No flair. No...
Read moreMy wife and I took my mother and father-in-law out to celebrate for my father-in-law's birthday. We had been here once a long time ago for a rehearsal dinner and then one time for lunch. We have to say we were not very impressed on those two visits. We decided to give it another shot as they opened after covid restrictions were lifted and I have to say our meal was absolutely phenomenal. The chips salsa and beans that came out were fresh and hot. The drinks were refilled quickly the guacamole appetizer was incredible. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas all were cooked perfectly and served piping hot. My wife ordered carnitas tacos. Carnitas are generally what I judge a good Mexican restaurant on they can't be too greasy they can't be too dry the flavor and seasoning has to be right and I have to say they were very very good not the best I've ever had but very good. My in-laws both had enchiladas and we're very pleased with them. I noticed on their plate though they had sliced Jarred jalapenos. the only thing that I would say I could recommend from that meal was that they use fresh jalapenos or give an option. We will absolutely be back. Pictured is the absolute destruction...
