I will prefix this by saying that I was a food server for 7 years. I really wanted to like this place. We came for Dodger Fan Fare Market. The event itself was great and our server was super nice (I made sure to tip her well), but the restaurant could use some new management that understand customer retention. Before anything, weak margaritas, order a beer bucket. Not only did it take us over 20 min to get waters, much less drinks, our food took over 90 min to get to our table. It was very busy and we were understanding. Then the food came and they brought me the wrong food (it was a different food runner and I tried to tell her i hadn’t ordered it but she insisted and walked away), my dad’s carne asada was cold. Clearly had been sitting in the window cold. Seeing how busy it was and waiting so long I decided to just eat what they brought. I will say it was tasty. When the server came around to ask how we were doing, I asked her, very calmly, if we could get a small discount and told her what happened. She was very nice and apologized, I made sure she knew that I was t blaming her. She went to her manager and came back. Apparently her manager thought we had received his idea of good service and rejected the small discount I asked for. Do don’t even offer a desert of anything. She came back very apologetic and gave me her managers decision, the coward didn’t even have the courtesy to come tell me this to my face. I assured her I understood and I didn’t blame her. It’s a shame b/c I really wanted to like this place. I have a HUGE family (80 1st cousins) and most live in this city. And I will make sure none of them come back here. I was so disappointed by the lack of customer satisfaction attitude I saw from this manager. It’s a shame that we hold servers and managers to different standers when it comes to quality of...
Read moreI'm going to start off with the fact that I have lived five minutes from this place most of my life. But just visited recently because I had a $10 off $20 from Groupon. My girlfriend and I visited with high hopes, because you really can't ruin Mexican food and entertainment. But to our surprise, they did. We sat in a very nice looking dining room. Little did we know, it was amateur karaoke day. The singer wasn't bad, per session, but they don't understand how feedback works. The songs were recognizable, which I enjoyed. Now the most important part: the food. Let me start with the chips and salsa. The chips tasted like store bought chips that were re-heated when we ordered. The salsa was okay, didn't have much flavor, even though it looked like it was made fresh when we ordered. It ended up being flavorless with a little kick of spicyness. The dishes we ordered were camarones a la diabla and chile verde pork. My shrimp were a little bit tough, and the sauce was very spicy, but flavorless, like the one that came with the chips. The plate came with sauted mixed veggies, which felt like they forgot my plate came with them and threw them on the pan as they were getting ready to bring it out. The end result was hard veggies. Also, for reasons unknown, my plate came with white rice and my girlfriend's came with Spanish rice. I found that odd. My girlfriendend ordered the chile verde pork, which was very undercooked. Only the small pieces were tender, the rest were very tough. The green sauce was okay. Over all, it was over priced and very low quality food. The wait for the food was a bit high, too El Tarasco does a much better job with all the food that is served here. First...
Read moreMy son and I are visiting from Texas for the week and could not find a decent seafood restaurant in the area until we stumbled upon La Féria. We tried a different Mariscos restaurant in the area but left immediately after many reasons. Anyways, La Féria was very empty with only one other party whom was finishing up so we were the only ones left and the restaurant still had an hour and half till closing. So I automatically assumed maybe something was going to be horrible about this place. I gave it a shot because we were tired and hungry. Well, it was the best choice of dinning since we been out here in Cali. Omg the shrimp and octopus cocktail was slap yo mama good! And the tostada de ceviche was sooo full, it was delicious! Not to mention the serves was great. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. They also had karaoke going on which was pretty cool, if there were more people. Overall I would definitely come back to this spot if I’m ever in Cali again and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a Spanish...
