bland, bland, bland! The chef here should really learn how to use salt and pepper. I got the steak fajitas and besides it being a tiny portion of meat, it was completely tasteless, swimming in a ton of also bland peppers and onions. I guess they put this much onions to disguise the TINY portion of meat for $24. The beans that came with it were pale and looked like vomit, disgusting. I kept using the salt and pepper shaker to try to add some flavor to it to no avail. My friend got the salmon veracruzano and it was also bland. Anyone with ANY cooking experience should know that you have to season the meat before cooking it, or no amount of sauce over it will fix the blandness. The meat was also very chewy, it seems like they boiled it before putting it on butter to give the effect of a sizzle. The meat was clearly not grilled. Just awful....
Read moreNice spot in Rancho Mission Viejo. We stopped in to Morena's for an early dinner. Carlos B. and Carlos R. helped us out and were both fantastic servers with excellent customer service and people skills. We started with drinks and guacamole, which were great. The Don Julio Blanco with club soda and three limes muddled were mixed to perfection. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes with rice and beans and loved the dish. The chicken was well cooked and the food tasty. I had the asada asada platter, which was good but more like a NY steak but still tasty with rice, beans, and a cheese enchilada. The chips, salsa, and tortillas were also fresh and tasty. The ambiance was positive, and the establishment appeared to be popular amongst the locals. We also found out that Morena's is also in Lake Forest, where Mimi's Cafe used to be. Highly...
Read moreThis was a wonderful experience overall! The restaurant itself is a good size not to large and not too small. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to eat indoors and the staff is EXTREMELY attentive. Refilling drinks, getting more chips and salsa, taking empty plates, my husband and I were both very impressed. We ordered the street tacos and green sauce enchiladas both to share. The enchiladas was great, I would have liked a little more meat and seasoning on the street tacos but we're still good! Next time I wanna try the flautas. We also ordered the tortilla soup as an appetizer and it was delicious. I would definitely order this soup on a cold day when u wanna get cozy. The food was pretty good but the service made the whole experience excellent! I would absolutely recommend this...
