Everything about this place is NOT authentic! Those good reviews must be from people who do not know authentic Greek food. Overpriced. Chicken was dry and flavorless. Hummus and tzatziki sauce was too expensive. I've had better like way better. He's got a lot of non authentic dishes. If you question him about it he snaps and gets defensive. Most people who frequent this place seem to come because it's the only Greek restaurant nearby and there's not a lot of eateries to choose from. I ordered rice pilaf. Instead I got tomato rice. I brought it to the owner's attention and his answer was "that's homemade rice style and that's authentic rice pilaf". I didn't ask for tomato rice (which by the way was basically Spanish rice) and he told me "No. Greek rice is cooked with chicken broth and Spanish rice is not!" I know there is Greek rice pilaf and then Greek tomato rice. I got tomato rice. He then tells me "real Greek rice pilaf is not white rice" Hahahaha uhm ok lol Some people cook Spanish rice in chicken broth and chicken bouillon so that was a big lie. I also know Greece has more than 1 rice dish. When I asked if he had Greek lemon garlic potatoes? He got defensive and said "no! We make authentic real Greek potatoes". I said ok "Lemon garlic potatoes" are authentic. He said no we make the real one. I ordered his "real one" and they were unflavored country style potatoes "American style" basically fried potatoes. This was my 2nd visit. I wanted to give them another try but unfortunately it did not change my opinion. I will not...
Read moreAuthetic Greek food is hard to find in L.A. - but this little strip mall restaurant is 100% greek. It is not Persian-Greek and not Armenian-Greek like most greek restaurants in L.A. So you may be surprised by the flavors, if you have never had genuine Greek food. Recieved warm and personal service from the owner Shawn - who clearly understands FLAVOR. Being a carb girl, I don't usually rave about vegetables - but his roasted vegetable side-dish stole the show. The Mousaka was wonderful (slightly cinnamon-y), and the pecan pastry bar I had for dessert was one of the best pastries I have ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot). HINT: it's very hard to find and the sign is tiny. Look for the RITE AID sign - it's tucked back in a corner...
Read moreSad to say, only average! I’d give 2 1/2 stars if I could. Saturday night and we were the only ones in the restaurant for over an hour. There were about five deliveries during that time. I guess that’s their core business. Our server was quite nice but to no fault of her, considering we were the only ones there, it did take quite some time for us to get our food, and my dish was lukewarm at best with a piece of cheese quickly melted atop still in the shape of a square. We did appreciate that they moved a table and two chairs outside so we could enjoy the summer evening while watching folks across the way at...
