ETA: ordered for lunch today because I was craving Chinese and they deliver. It was so so so mediocre and disappointing. I got the chicken/sushi combo and a miso soup. The teriyaki chicken was once again bland as were the veg tempura. The side salad was just okay, despite seeing plenty of dressing on it the flavor was lacking and the chicken on it was meh too. The California roll was fine though and the miso was also just okay. I think it’ll be a while before we go back here if we do at all.
We decided to give this place a chance having not had any Chinese food in the area. Online ordering was fairly easy but they need more descriptions of the items and more photos.also when you order online they don’t give you an ETA of when it’ll be ready. We added photos of our items to this review.
We ordered three items: fried crab cream cheese wontons, teriyaki chicken over rice, and mixed vegetables with beef.
The wontons were definitly old. They were chewy, had they been fresh they would have been very good. Came with sweet and sour sauce which was standard and good.
The teriyaki chicken over rice was decent. The chicken was good but it needed more flavour from either a grill or sauce. The rice was standard rice, not crunchy as others have stated.
The mixed veg with beef was alright, it had a lot of tofu for some reason which we didn’t enjoy. The sauce was a little watery and could have benefited from some rice.
Overall we were pleased, would have been 4 stars had it been slightly cheaper. The portions were decent size though. We’ll be back to try different items...
Read moreFirst time and the Last. Wife and I have split shifts so we frequent the area during lunch break hours these past weeks. We spotted this place and wanted to try it out. First, It was an awkward place due to the very poor customer service but decided to stay. We ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and Teriyaki Chinese Rice Plate. Portions are good for the price but the food was not up to par. My Teriyaki chicken was on the cold side and was probably microwaved unevenly and the rice was not fully cooked. Wife's chow mein was okay at best. Second, What got my attention was how rude the cashier lady was to an African American customer. He was asked to pay first before ordering. I am not okay with that but that man did not say a word. We were the first to enter the place when it opened but we were not asked to pay first before ordering. Thats discrimination. Also, third, I understood all the language that was spoken between the two chefs and cashier. It is not okay to bash your customers. Yes we order water because that is what we wanted. Sorry that we are too "cheap" for your soda. Fourth, Save your personal family affairs until after closing. This is the reason why we didn't complain about the food because who knows what they would do. Take your business...
Read moreTo be sure, I am referencing the New Rice Bowl and Boba at 7416 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento.
I have mixed feelings on my second visit. My first visit I loved the Honey Walnut Shrimp and BBQ Pork Rice combo and wish I had ordered more, but felt the Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Cheese Wonton, and BBQ Pork Bun were ok but not good enough to reorder. So today I went back to reorder the same Honey Walnut Shrimp combination and it as though they lost their chef ... not even sure what this is! The shrimp was barely browned, mushy, and absolutely buried in cream sauce. It was ok to eat ... nothing upsetting ... and you could somewhat taste the original recipe, but I won't be back. In a pinch, it isn't totally bad after reheating, just not as good as average Chinese, and there was something funky about the rice this time ... I will likely throw most of it out. Now I usually like my Honey Walnut Shrimp crispy with honey, not mushy in cream sauce, but last time the cream sauce was good and not overkill, while this time the chicken batter seemed underdone and honey was barely recognizable under so much cream sauce. I struggled between a 3 and 4 star rating because of my first visit. I don't want to shoot them down entirely, but it needs...
