San Diego is choked with casual Mexican cuisine, but Sarita's stands out in a crowded field. Why? Two axes matter here: quantity and quality. I've had several different dishes from here and the quantity has always been immense. As an older man with plenty of abdominal space to spare, their meals last me at least two meals, and usually three or four. And for the price (a dollar or two cheaper than closer to the ocean) that's a phenomenal bargain. Quality-wise the food is excellent. The main factor here is they cook with corn oil. Lard and/or Crisco leaves a terrible aftertaste, but the corn oil gives their food a more refined edge, and leaves a lot less regret when I polish off a plate of nachos or their "Flying Saucer." The burritos have all been well balanced, and benefit from decoration with a bucket of their chipotle sauce, which they've always provided free of charge. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about service. This is expected since overprivileged folks love to dissect a single incident and flare out their anger on a review. Politely ignore them. This place gets slammed after 4pm and the staff are doing their best. And every single request I've made for sauces, salsas and order modifications, has been accepted without a single grouse or complaint. If you'd like nose-in-the-air service don't expect it on a $6.50 burrito. Move along. If you want tons of great San Diego style Mexican cuisine at a bargain, come here and drop less than $10 on a momentous meal.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at Sarita’s Mexican Food this past month. I have been to Spring Valley location (9906 Campo Road), and the service has been consistently awful. I called 20 minutes ahead to place an order, only to arrive and find out that they had completely messed it up. Instead of fixing it quickly, I was forced to wait another 20 minutes, meaning I wasted an entire hour just to get my food. That is completely unacceptable. While the food itself is decent, the customer service is beyond horrible. The staff is unprofessional, inattentive, and does not seem to care about their customers. There is one guy in particular who is there regularly, and his attitude is absolutely terrible—rude, unwelcoming, and completely lacking in basic customer service skills. If you value your time and expect to be treated with respect, I strongly recommend avoiding this place. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants that serve great food without making you feel like an inconvenience.

This place is hands down my favorite burrito spot in San Diego, maybe even ever! Their California burritos are packed with flavor, perfectly balanced with crispy fries, juicy carne asada, and creamy guac. The Surf and Turf burritos are on another level, MASSIVE! tender asada, buttery shrimp wrapped up in a warm tortilla that melts together with every bite. The carne asada fries are loaded and indulgent, with just the right amount of crunch and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Even their breakfast burritos taste like a hug in the morning. And don’t even get me started on their salsas… smoky, spicy, tangy, each one adds its own punch and keeps you reaching for more. This spot is my go-to every single time, and I’m already craving it again right now!

On Thursday 01/28/2022, during rush hour (around 12:30pm) I walked in to Saritas Taco to place my order. It was packed like crazy. While waiting in line. The cashier (female) aggressively loud (raised her voice) asking me to wear a face mask. She appeared to be very aggravated about the fact that I'm not wearing one and it seemed to be she was taking it personally. I politely declined and continued to wait. Then she states that she is going decline my order (understandable , all business have the right to do so) unless I put one on. So I refuse again and told her that I'm more than happy to place my order and wait outside. She declines for the 3rd time implying that I was "EXPOSING" customers. At that point I decided to leave the place and go somewhere else. Before doing so, I told her it's business's loss. Her instant comeback was " No it's your's" referring it's my loss. Now I do understand that it's state mandated , I also understand that as a human being with rights ,views ,and opinions. I have the freedom of choice, after all this is a free country. Or is it ? All of above maybe different to others , but that's what makes me different , and who I'm. You may agree or disagree which is fine. But in a place of business and for a cashier to tell me how to live my life, or make choices is absolutely insane and insulting. A place of business should never refuse to serve person based on their personal, religious, social, health choices , etc. Her job duties are ONLY to put in my order and process my payment. She has no right at all (just like everyone one else on this planet) to ask anyone else on what to or what not wear. My health is my choice and my right and she has no right to question my health choices or discriminate against them. She's not a health expert or a doctor, and her opinion is valid only to her (which I'm not interested in). So I left to different taco shop and was served accordingly without any complications. I'm shedding light on this visit because I've visited this place before (post pandemic) and noticed on numerous occasions that male cashier's and back line cocks lower their face covering below the mouth. Also ,no one during ,or on any of my previous visits ever asked me to wear mask. Besides the fact that it's a very strange incident, it's also an absolute disgrace to be treated / excluded in such a demeaning way. I just want to share my recent, and (for sure) my last visit to you being a client for 10 years. I will never, ever set my foot in your shop ever again knowing that your mentally ill employees look down to people the way she did to me.I understand this pandemic have been tough on all of us, but we need compassion, support, understanding for people and community to grow. But your employee had...

The food is the best I’ve ever had at any taco shop in San Diego the reason why I’m writing this review is about the older male cashier. I go here about once a week and he is there everytime he’s a nice guy never rude but moves very slow and let’s peoples orders sit for minutes getting cold while he does other tasks that are not important at the moment. The past few times I’ve just ignored it because it’s a busy restaurant but I also work in a restaurant and know that as soon as the food comes out you should call it out. Some peoples food ends up sitting for 10-15 minutes because he’s doing unnecessary stuff such as restocking the whole back counter with napkins reorganizing the cups for the hot sauces cleaning around the restaurant all while peoples orders are sitting waiting to be called out. I came tonight right before closing no one was in the restaurant other than me and I should have been given my food when it was ready but this guy decided to go outside and start sweeping taking out the trash for 10 minutes while no one else was in the restaurant and my food was just sitting on the counter behind the register he could have simply handed me my food and then continued to do the task he wanted to do so badly. he does not care if your food gets cold or how much money you spent he just wants to get his tasks done. I wouldn’t even usually write a review but I love this restaurant and would love to come more but the only thing keeping me from coming even more than I already do is him and him letting my food I paid...
