Fresh space, familiar taste, but service falls behind. My husband and I have been fans of Sushi Yo since their old Fulton Ave location, so we were excited to visit their new Arden spot during the soft opening. The inside is beautiful. The menu is similar to the old one, and prices are on the higher end with rolls starting at $15, bento boxes at $23, and ramen at $20. Understandably, it’s a soft opening, but it was clear that they were understaffed. There was only one server trying to handle multiple tables, one sushi chef making all the rolls, and probably one cook in the back which led to a frustrating delay in service. We arrived right when they opened, but still waited about 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the JD roll, a bento box, bluefin belly, amaebi, and ramen. The blue fin belly was disappointing. At $16 for two pieces (market price), we expected the melt-in-your-mouth texture we’ve had at other places, but it just didn’t deliver. Aside from that, everything tasted great. But the long wait made the overall experience feel less enjoyable. The server and owner were both apologetic, which we appreciated, and it’s clear they’re trying their best to get things up and running smoothly. We’re hopeful that once they have more staff and have worked out the kinks, we’ll be able to enjoy the great food we know and love without the service hiccups.

This place was a first timer for me, my husband, and my kids. First of all, the lady at the front is super nice! (Wish I got her name!) Second, our waiter with the blonde hair is super attentive and nice! (He gave our son a togo cup of water because he noticed how much he loved iced water lol) The food, mannnn. It couldn't be better. My daughter loved her chicken teriyaki w/ gyoza. (+Orange ramune) $7?? Cheap and delicious! My husband and I ordered pepper fin, spicy edamame, 3 diff type of nigiris (ama ebi, scallops, & salmon), and the ebi ebi roll. Pepper fin was plated nicely, spicy edamame was flavorful, and the nigiri was so fresh it's like they had the ocean in the back of the kitchen. Lol! If you guys were ever hesitant to try this spot out, I'm telling you guys now that you are missing out! I'm coming back sushi yo!

One of the best sushi spots in Sacramento area. I’m sad that I found it so late as they are moving to a new location. The moment you walk in through the doors you are greeted by the friendliest people and the smiling sushi chefs are happy to see you even though they seem really busy. The nice lady seated us in right away and brought out iced lemon water. The environment is peaceful and maintained to very clean standards. We ordered two sushi rolls which both were the best sushi we had in awhile. Even though we waited for our sushi rolls for about 20 minutes, it was well worth it as we got time for the delicious sushi they kept bringing out. Definitely a new favorite and will follow them to the new place.

5 Stars – Fantastic New Spot with Thoughtful Service and Great Sushi

We had a wonderful experience at Sushi Yo’s new location. The space is beautifully designed—elevated decor, well-laid-out tables, and a full bar with specialty cocktails.

The food was excellent from start to finish. The cucumber salad was surprisingly refreshing and flavorful (pro tip: when a place nails the simple things, you know you’re in good hands). Our sushi rolls and hand rolls were fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious.

What really stood out was the care they took with my gluten allergy. I don’t have celiac, but gluten is a big issue for me. They happily substituted crab for tempura shrimp in one of the rolls and made sure everything was safe for me to eat—way beyond just offering gluten-free soy sauce. That kind of attention to detail means a lot.

My husband, who doesn’t have any dietary restrictions, loved the deep-fried soft shell crab appetizer.

Shout-out to Mark, our server, who was attentive and thorough, and to the owner who came by to check on us personally. Despite being in their soft opening, everything was smooth and professional.

Bonus: there’s a shaded patio where people were already enjoying dinner with their dog—very pet-friendly!

Definitely recommend Sushi Yo. They’re off to...
