This is the only decent small taco shop in Ladera . They have absolutely exceptional huevas rancheros with great corn tortillas. The tacos are good. Also, they have real Mexican Coke, horchata, Negra Modelo. Solid beverages line up for Mexican food. My wife had the beef tacos and the meat was cooked perfectly. The beans were stand out as well They do lean a little to the spicy side on their food, but it is just my speed. Prices are really fair. It reminds me of an old school San Diego 'Berto's taco shop - just way way cleaner. Speaking of which ... Tables and bathrooms were very clean. It was a very casual but relaxing environment. Jalapenos on the other side of the shopping center is such a dump and so loud. Also the food at Jalapenos is super greasy and tasteless. Do yourself a favor and go to Taco Mesa instead. Last time I was in, I noticed that they cater and the catering prices were pretty good. I'm going to buy a few taco plates for next party to see how well they work out and I'll update my rating and review at that time. In summary, please try this restaurant -- you will be very happy...
Read moreI really like this Taco Mesa. My wife and I stopped here for dinner tonight. I got the wet carnitas burrito. My wife got the wild fish tacos. The tortillas that they wrapped the burrito in was soft and excellent. I’m sure it was hand made. They have hot food and lots of things to put on your taco. This Taco Mesa is always clean and nice. The employees are helpful and friendly. You can get good food and it is fast. You can eat it there or take it out to easy elsewhere. It is in the same shopping center with the Albertsons market. I stop here about once a month for lunch. Highly recommend. And Julio was the best, great big smile and always with a good joke to make you laugh! If you stop and eat here you will be glad you did! 5...
Read moreWhoa...local friends took us to lunch here because it's one of their favorites and we couldn't stop going back. Everything we had (over 3 separate lunches) was outstanding...just a nice combination of a few different regions in Mexico with that Southern California flavor...and then just done really, really well. They make it all right there...carne asada is marinated is something special, their salsas are all excellent, and best horchata in the area (that last one according to our local friends). Casual, order at the counter, grab your own salsas, eat inside or on a great patio, very friendly staff....definitely, this...
