I was hoping for more from this place. Especially with all of the good reviews. I almost never go by reviews, but I thought I’d give it a shot this time. My bad. I guess because we’ve been to seafood restaurants that were actually really good through out Fl and up the east coast, that my standards are pretty up there. This is place is probably excellent for those who haven’t stepped out of Callahan/Hilliard. The clam chowder is not New Englands clam chowder. New England clam chowder is not spicy- and shouldn’t be. This definitely was. The Alfredo was like skim milk with salt & nutmeg- disappointing. We were going to make that at home- minus the skim milk with salt & nutmeg- but, since we just moved in- I couldn’t find all of the ingredients. At least the chicken was good. My whole catfish WAS really good. My collard greens were mush, and extremely salty, along with the alligator tail- kind of like someone dropped the salt and it spilled all over.

I don’t under stand small towns and not selling alcohol. At least bottled beer. I’m from a small town just above the GA/Fl line, and it’s the same too. I wanted seafood, and a nice cold beer, since I just got off of work.

Our server Haileigh (I’m SO sorry if if misspelled your name) was super sweet. I’d go back for a nice small lunch with her as my server. The decore was cute, and the restaurant is...

Been visiting this establishment for 35+ years and still great fried seafood. Lunch was very good and priced well for the size of dish. ONLY CRITIQUE- I ordered a combo of shrimp and oysters and you pay an extra $2 for the oysters instead of one of the other items (flounder filet, scallops, clam strips or calamari) $12.98 instead of $10.98. When I get the plate there is plenty of delicious shrimp and 3 oysters. I'm paying $2 more for the oysters and I get 3? I did question the waitress, she returned and said the manager or chef said that due to weight that was the amount done but that they would do me 2 more. I said that I was okay (I wasn't). Visually 3 medium oysters on a combo plate don't get it with me. I love the oysters I'm paying extra just because I chose oysters. 1 or 2 more oysters won't kill them and will stop patrons from feeling cheated. I would rather of gotten the explanation and been given the extra oysters w/out question to feel better. I will still stop there in the future but my radar will be up.

Let me say again, food fried to perfection. Best Hushpuppies, great cheese grits, great slaw made the way I like it -just a light dressing. Just be careful...

I don't know where to start this is a local favorite place for my family to eat but the service has gone terribly down hill over the last few years but tonight was one of worst experiences, as I was patiently waiting for the server to come back to her podium to seat us she hastily went back to the kitchen leaving us there to wait as others poured in she ignored them and went to the kitchen to get plates and I no kidding you saw her pick up a fried shrimp and eat it off of a customers plate before it was served, I almost left but was hoping the cooks in the back would shine through lack of customer service, as we finally got seated two waiters took our drink order and only one returned, she forgot my toddlers drink and there were no straws and 15 minutes later nobody returned to check on us, it's clear the servers don't have designated sections and are all over the place confusing orders and neglecting customers in the process, it was a very unorganized and dissapointing dinner date out, the servers are rude and I'm not sure to blame management or poor choice of employees but I hope they get it together before...

Well, I got another craving for fried clams and boy oh boy, did I strike out with Cedar River Seafood. I ordered the Seafarer’s Combo (shrimp and clams) along with two sides, mashed sweet potato and baked beans (I know, I know…baked beans with seafood?). The shrimp were fine, though the cocktail sauce one of the worst I’ve ever had. The clams were over cooked and the DILL tarter sauce horrendous. Usually I can mix ketchup into dill tartar sauce to make it like a sweet tartar sauce. This was the first time it failed and I blame the restaurant for going super cheap on the condiments. (Side Note: I don’t know what it is with seafood restaurants now. Forty years ago, they served sweet tartar sauce. What happened? 😫) The hush puppies tasted like onions. 🤢 The only other things that tasted okay were the mashed sweet potatoes and baked beans. But really, not worth the money paid for this meal. My first AND LAST visit to Cedar River Seafood.

Cedar River has some of the all time ultimately delicious seafood in all of Callahan. The restaurant is flooded with pictures of fish that different people have caught and statues of fish big and small. There is no wait, no high sky prices, and the servers here are kind. The food was absolutely and adventure worth taking. I had the flounder and shrimp special. It comes with two sides (I chose fries and green beans). Everything I had was tenderized and totally flavorful. The price was dirt cheap. The presentation was astounding and the taste matched it perfectly. The amount of food you receive is very reasonable. If you want seafood that makes you happy, get your forks, sauces, and your fingers ready. At Cedar River, the food is so good, you have to eat with your hands!!!!
