Went there last night with a party of 10 around 8:00 pm. I was the last to arrive and the party had been waiting 25 minutes to be seated when it didn’t appear that busy. Menu had a lot of choices, and we all began ordering, mostly pasta dishes! As people started ordering salads we were all surprised that certain dressings had a $1 up charge. Not even fancy dressings, blue cheese and balsamic? I’ve eaten many, many places and I’ve NEVER heard of a dressing up charge for a salad. One basket of bread with five rolls was delivered to the table of TEN! One guest asked to upgrade his chips to fries. Waitress says that’s $2 more. He asked to asked to add cheese to the fries. She said we can’t do that but we can upgrade to pizza fries...meaning they’ll add sauce and cheese, but not just cheese??? Meals came out, portions were large. We asked for more rolls to eat with the pasta. Bill comes and there is a $4.00 charge for “extra” bread and the fries with sauce and cheese went from $2 to $6.50!!! I know this seems minute, but this iced the cheapskate cake for me. First the dressings and now the bread?? Is business really that bad that bread and salad dressings need markups? Unlimited bread is an Italian restaurant staple! And I can even see an up charge for extra dressing but come on Coppa! You lost three families business in one sitting with your...
Read moreThe Pros: Full menu. Excellent food. Generous portions. Reasonable prices. Friendly Wait staff.
The Cons: The main Dining Room is beautiful with a nice ambiance but we were led through it and seated in another smaller room off from the main dining room. Five tables for four within an 11 x 11 space with a direct view of the kitchen. All couples. Plain dark paneled walls, an entrance door for Take Out, two large wall refrigerators filled with take out beer, with people coming and going, and the busy Wait Staff station all within 4 feet of our table. It felt like I was eating dinner inside of the Italian Village down the road! Not good at all. That space should be used solely as a Take Out/Wait Staff area or possibly used for a large party of 20.
Next, the “garlic knots” are not the right kind of bread to serve with the mussels. The crust is too hard to soak up the broth and their taste takes away from the delicious flavor of the broth. Better to stick with the classic Italian bread for dipping.
I’m not sure what the maximum capacity this restaurant can serve, but having only one toilet in the rest rooms seems a bit risky.
And last but not least, the “cash only” policy? A bad idea for so many reasons.
We will...
Read moreBack after many years, all the food just as we remembered.. awesome. Started with the mussels in red sauce. The sauce was great with dipping the fresh rolls. I had the pasta carbarnara, one of the best I have had for quite some time. Patti had the Pena with small shrimp in a blush sauce. She enjoyed that as well. My sister had the pasta with meat sauce, I tried it and it was very tasty. My brother-in-law had the penna witb broccoli rabe and garlic. This too was very good. The waitress was on top everything and was always available when needed. The only down side was the noise, but we really enjoyed the night out.
8/19/23 - updated Food still great, loved everything tonight except the waitress. Asked for two check, said they couldn’t do it in a very rude way, then took 10 minutes for the check. Then we needed to split it up. This kind of service will just drive people away. Not the kind of service I want when I go out. Our next outing for Italian food will...
