"Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name" . I couldn't have felt more welcome than Norm at Cheers when I walked in for the first time. This wounderful piece of history, carved out from a trolley repair stop to a bustling speak easy during prohibition. Today this piece of history is kept alive by Nick and Fran, owners of this establishment for over 40 years in the harden section of Gary where they take pride in the safety of their patrons. Rather give it 1 star. Atmosphere is not a warm experience. My family and I came to visit this past weekend and women there was very rude through the door…she came to us personally and asked if we “took care” of her bartender when a cash tip was in fact given and let’s be clear tips are not mandatory but based off customer service that we receive, however, a tip was given. Diverse crown with people of all walks of life. Located in Gary, Indiana Hunter's Inn is the oldest constantly operating tavern in the city of Gary! Rustic hand built wooden bar, old school refrigerator, J&J's famous Pizza too!!!

Definitely worth stopping in and having a drink and getting a pizza!
