My experience at Paige and Charlie’s Coney Island was an abundance of spontaneous joy. My husband was driving south on Broadway when he noticed decorations outside. We both agreed to visit for the purpose of supporting a business in our hometown. When we arrived I was immediately impressed with the kind person waiting to hold the door open as we entered. Then as I looked around inside the restaurant there were beautiful murals adorning the walls. My husband placed our order and I went to the dining area. As each person arrived it seemed like a family get together at a favorite relatives’ house. One of my former students came to the restaurant and I got to meet her daughter, “The Birthday Queen” for the first time. Paige and Charlie’s served as the perfect location for the Birthday Queen to enjoy her birthday breakfast! When our food arrived, it was truly a meal made for royalty. I ordered a half breakfast, but it was an abundant breakfast. Each bite was delicious, and the food was so abundant that we both had food left over. Then there was live music and a DJ in the outdoor eating area. I soon learned that we were in the right place at the right time because Saturday, October 4, 2025, was their official grand opening. The music was so great that people dining in the restaurant sang background vocals. I had an opportunity to meet multiple people who shared that it was a multigenerational business, and that made it an extra special experience to support this business. The wisdom of an elder generation combined with the innovation of a younger generation presents possibilities to prosper on purpose. Visiting Paige and Charlie’s Coney Island was a beautiful, memorable, refreshing and joyful experience. Thank you to each person who planned and worked to ensure that this business succeeds. I am cheering for each team member to win. Thank you for all you do through your work for Paige and Charlie’s...

The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question ‘How can we eat?’ the second by the question ‘Why do we eat?’ and the third by the question ‘Where shall we have lunch?‘” Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Some want to move from survival to inquiry to sophistication quickly and don't really mind who's back they are going behind or toes they are stepping on, but this restaurant is respectful of others hunger, thinks freely, and is sophisticated in their love of their deep and awesome African heritage and folks of other...
Read moreCharlie's Coney Island! Man, I've been coming to this place since I was a little kid! Wait, was it this place or was it that place that's not there anymore that was on Front St. Bulgy's? Boogle's? I can't remember the name. Anybody? Aw, no man. I'm pretty sure it was Charlie's. Anyway, great to see that you guys are still around. I might not be still around pretty soon because I'm fairly certain the government is planning on deporting me, not because I'm an illegal, excuse me, "undocumented" immigrant, but because I got a big ol' case of stink foot and everybody be getting damn sick of it. See at...
