I already knew Thai Bloom! was excellent, based on my experiences at the NW Portland location, so when my manager at work asked for restaurant suggestions for a department lunch, this new location in Camas, near our office, was high my list of suggestions, and ultimately the place we settled on. Our reservation for 9 was seated immediately, and a healthy variety of appetizers were ordered to share with the table, in addition to our entrees: the Flying Tiger steak, Miang Kum (my favorite, and later, the favorite of the table), and the appetizer sampler. The crab pad thai seemed to be the majority favorite at the table, as 33% of our party would end up ordering it, as well as the drunken noodles, ginger orange chicken, grilled salmon with green curry, and the fisherman's fried rice, and all followed with a Thai fried banana, mango sticky rice, and an Asian pear crisp, again shared around the table. No one, absolutely no one, left hungry, or unsatisfied, and everyone was impressed with the quality of the food and service here. I guess this means I get to keep my reputation as the go-to restaurant guy for our department, and who knows...maybe my good taste will help secure a nice, surprise raise or bonus, eh, boss?! *wink wink*

Incredibly good! There is a reason it was pretty busy, even on just a Wednesday Just by looking at the outside, it looks kind of small and average, but when you walk in, it's open and clean and cozy but modern!! The air isn't heavy or hot, which is a plus in a restaurant. I wish I took a picture before we dove in, but the Summer Rolls on the current specials menu is AMAZING!! My partner and I both had drunken noodles, which I try at every Thai place, so I'm pretty picky! The noodles are cut into smaller squares so they are easier to handle, and the vegetables are cut thinner than most Thai places, which tend to just have big chunks of veggies. The meat was also amazing because it's like they got a char on it first or something! Also, and this is a big one, it doesn't feel too heavy or greasy once you're full, and that happens I feel like with a lot of other Thai places!! Super friendly and attentive staff! Suggestion of ordering Medium+ spice level, (it's not on the menu), but imo it's a perfect balance of having just enough heat and flavor!! Will definitely be back!

Tried several times to submit an order through their app, but I kept getting an error, which was frustrating. My husband eventually called in our order, and I stopped to pick it up on my way home. The hostess was super friendly, and the bar/restaurant is super cute! I was a little disappointed because the hostess asked if we wanted utensils, chili oil, or chili paste and I requested chopsticks and chili oil and when I got home I realized she did not include chili oil. As for the food... My husband ordered pork pad thai spicy plus. He was pleasantly surprised with the spice level and enjoyed his dish. Usually, it's not spicy enough for him. I got the pork pad see ew medium plus, because I like to be conservative on the spice when I first try a place. I could have gone spicier, but it was delicious. We split an order of crab puffs, and they were the best we've ever had. Those will definitely be a go-to for us. I'd like to eat at the restaurant next time and order a drink.

The waiter and waitress I had both times were very kind and friendly! The atmosphere is nice! It’s a huge upgrade from before! However, I’ve been in the food industry for 11 years and I do see a few things that could be improved. I think there should be salt, pepper and sugar on the tables. My first day in I had the curry salmon with the Thai iced coffee and my fiance had the duck curry. The iced coffee was unbelievably too sweet. And I like sweet, but it was way overboard on how sweet it was. The salmon was good, but the curry really wasn’t very spicy at all, and even the curry was a tad sweet. I didn’t feel like I got very much for a $30 dish. It’s one piece of fish and a bit of white rice with the fish on a small bed of veggies, but all together though it was okay I wouldn’t say it was amazing or worth the price. My fiance got the duck and he LOVES duck however he felt it had too much curry, it came in a bowl like soup and was just drowned in curry.

I came back a second time with my sister, we both got the Thai orange tea, it was pretty flavorless and we did ask for a sugar packet (which is why it would be nice if it was already on the table) my sister got the ahi larb which she hardly ate, she said it was way too sour from lemon but also way too overly seasoned and salty, so I shared my food with her instead which was the Thai orange chicken, the chicken was good, though also very sweet, but my complaint on this dish is the broccoli….it was boring…. Just steamed broccoli, no seasoning, no garlic, no butter and no salt or pepper etc. I’d say there hasn’t been one dish I was totally happy with, and over all it’s very pricy for under seasoned and over seasoned food.

I think it has potential! But I think many things need tweaking! I hope maybe in a few months I can go back in and maybe have a...

I’ve ordered takeout here several times and have been pleased each time. My first order was placed online during a time when nearly every seat in the house was full, during their opening week (usually the WORST time to try a new place in this area). The app told me my order would be ready at 9p and I was literally walking out the door with food in hand at 9p. Each subsequent order has been ready exactly at the time they gave me, whether over the phone or on the app. These folks seem to definitely have their timing and processes down!

As far as the quality of food goes, I have zero complaints. My new fave is the massaman curry. And I always opt for salad rolls. The food has been excellent each time. Kinda how that “other” place in Camas (rhymes with slop pie) used to be, before she handed the reigns over to her kids. I’ll just say that it’s really nice to finally have some good Thai food back in this area, because driving to Vancouver or Portland gets old.

I am a bit disappointed in the pricing… like others, I do agree that this place is overpriced anywhere from $1 to $4 a plate, depending on the dish. With that said, the quality is great. The efficiency of their online ordering is great. And the service has been really good each time.

I can’t speak to dine in and would likely never dine in there. It’s still the old Smitty’s dining room… run down, too open, and just overall lacking in quality atmosphere.

Tho I won’t dine in, I will definitely continue to order takeout; until given a...

We tried Thai Bloom for the first time tonight. I would say it was ok food. The flavors were bland, and everything we ordered for takeout that was fried, from the spring rolls to the calamari, was a soggy mess by the time I got the food home (I live 10 minutes away, so this shouldn't have been a problem). I don't think their oil was nearly hot enough to properly fry anything...maybe their kitchen was just having an off night.

The flavors were ok, but not anything like the glowing reviews I've seen for this place.

You need to ask for about one or two levels of spicy past what you think you'll need. I asked for medium heat on my wife's dish and mine, and there was essentially zero heat to any of it. All in all, there was just very little flavor to any of the dishes we ordered.

The staff were friendly, and I'm sure by their demeanor the sit-down service would be great.

Don't let the photographs on the online menu fool you: the pictures give you the impression of very small dishes, but in reality the portion sizes are excellent and plentiful.

The prices are very high for what you're getting. Given the issues with the under-cooked, soggy fried foods and the exorbitant prices for some of the dishes, we may or may not give it one more try just to see if they were having a bad night in the kitchen. Our one experience tonight certainly didn't live up to the expectations for the...
