The waiter and waitress I had both times were very kind and friendly! The atmosphere is nice! It’s a huge upgrade from before! However, I’ve been in the food industry for 11 years and I do see a few things that could be improved. I think there should be salt, pepper and sugar on the tables. My first day in I had the curry salmon with the Thai iced coffee and my fiance had the duck curry. The iced coffee was unbelievably too sweet. And I like sweet, but it was way overboard on how sweet it was. The salmon was good, but the curry really wasn’t very spicy at all, and even the curry was a tad sweet. I didn’t feel like I got very much for a $30 dish. It’s one piece of fish and a bit of white rice with the fish on a small bed of veggies, but all together though it was okay I wouldn’t say it was amazing or worth the price. My fiance got the duck and he LOVES duck however he felt it had too much curry, it came in a bowl like soup and was just drowned in curry.
I came back a second time with my sister, we both got the Thai orange tea, it was pretty flavorless and we did ask for a sugar packet (which is why it would be nice if it was already on the table) my sister got the ahi larb which she hardly ate, she said it was way too sour from lemon but also way too overly seasoned and salty, so I shared my food with her instead which was the Thai orange chicken, the chicken was good, though also very sweet, but my complaint on this dish is the broccoli….it was boring…. Just steamed broccoli, no seasoning, no garlic, no butter and no salt or pepper etc. I’d say there hasn’t been one dish I was totally happy with, and over all it’s very pricy for under seasoned and over seasoned food.
I think it has potential! But I think many things need tweaking! I hope maybe in a few months I can go back in and maybe have a...
Read moreI’ve ordered takeout here several times and have been pleased each time. My first order was placed online during a time when nearly every seat in the house was full, during their opening week (usually the WORST time to try a new place in this area). The app told me my order would be ready at 9p and I was literally walking out the door with food in hand at 9p. Each subsequent order has been ready exactly at the time they gave me, whether over the phone or on the app. These folks seem to definitely have their timing and processes down!
As far as the quality of food goes, I have zero complaints. My new fave is the massaman curry. And I always opt for salad rolls. The food has been excellent each time. Kinda how that “other” place in Camas (rhymes with slop pie) used to be, before she handed the reigns over to her kids. I’ll just say that it’s really nice to finally have some good Thai food back in this area, because driving to Vancouver or Portland gets old.
I am a bit disappointed in the pricing… like others, I do agree that this place is overpriced anywhere from $1 to $4 a plate, depending on the dish. With that said, the quality is great. The efficiency of their online ordering is great. And the service has been really good each time.
I can’t speak to dine in and would likely never dine in there. It’s still the old Smitty’s dining room… run down, too open, and just overall lacking in quality atmosphere.
Tho I won’t dine in, I will definitely continue to order takeout; until given a...
Read moreWe tried Thai Bloom for the first time tonight. I would say it was ok food. The flavors were bland, and everything we ordered for takeout that was fried, from the spring rolls to the calamari, was a soggy mess by the time I got the food home (I live 10 minutes away, so this shouldn't have been a problem). I don't think their oil was nearly hot enough to properly fry anything...maybe their kitchen was just having an off night.
The flavors were ok, but not anything like the glowing reviews I've seen for this place.
You need to ask for about one or two levels of spicy past what you think you'll need. I asked for medium heat on my wife's dish and mine, and there was essentially zero heat to any of it. All in all, there was just very little flavor to any of the dishes we ordered.
The staff were friendly, and I'm sure by their demeanor the sit-down service would be great.
Don't let the photographs on the online menu fool you: the pictures give you the impression of very small dishes, but in reality the portion sizes are excellent and plentiful.
The prices are very high for what you're getting. Given the issues with the under-cooked, soggy fried foods and the exorbitant prices for some of the dishes, we may or may not give it one more try just to see if they were having a bad night in the kitchen. Our one experience tonight certainly didn't live up to the expectations for the...
