I can’t even begin to describe to you how GOOD these hamburgers are. Throw away everything you think you know about a “good burger” because Burger Barn will exceed it all. Don’t think that, just because it’s a little hut on the side of the road in teeny tiny Jeffersonville, it can’t make good food - you’d be sorrowly mistaken! They make the BEST hamburgers I have ever eaten, and I have had burgers all across the world from Iceland to Zimbabwe to French Polynesia!! The most unique thing about Burger Barn is their MASSIVE selection of hamburgers. They have more than almost any other place I’ve ever seen, and even more impressive, they have fresh ingredients that would be hard to keep stock of even in full-on restaurants! Considering how many local suppliers are in the area, you can guarantee they have some of the freshest ingredients out there, and by taking one bite you can immediately tell. Burger Barn’s food tastes GOOD, like REALLY good, and this is my opinion of some of their items: We have gotten many different food items over the years, including: Reuben Burger, Bleu Burger, Bleu Royale, Ethan Allen, Ira Allen, Hanna’s Montana, Samuel de Champlain, Tuscany, Nuts About Thai, Breakfast Burger, Nutty Goat, Southern Cross, and El Alamo. This is just what I remember - we’ve also gotten their fries, onion rings, fried pickles, fried mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, and I guarantee I’m missing a lot! Everything is exceptional, but the burgers we keep coming back to over and over are the Nutty Goat, Southern Cross and Samuel de Champlain. These are absolutely incredible, and again, I put even put into words how good they are. Do yourself a favor, get maybe one or two of these, and call it a day. They also have exceptional fries that rival any of the best fries you’ve had before. Maybe get a creemee from The Cupboard across the street afterward because they have the best creemees as well. That’s the perfect lunch/dinner combo! In terms of other info, there is plenty of parking in the big lot outside Burger Barn, there is seating at some benches (but they could be full, so expect to eat in your car at peak hour), and they have napkins, but no hand washing station, so it might be a good idea to bring wet wipes because the burgers are BIG and MESSY and AWESOME! I just love this place so much and they deserve all the business the get. This place needs more attention. Come here for some of the best “fast” food in Vermont, and everywhere, you’ll ever have!

This was my second visit to burger barn. I just can’t imagine a better burger- sure there are different options out there but as far as the burger itself this is about as good as you could find anywhere in the USA. The “restaurant “ is actually a roadside stand so come prepared to tailgate or eat in your car if you’re caught in poor weather, otherwise it’s picnic tables only. It’s a cash only kinda place but the mobile gas station just down the street has an atm ($2.75 fee). Oh, almost forgot to mention the fries - you will need one size larger than you thought - if you try to cut calories here you will regret it because it’s that good! For special burgers I tried the goat which is great but honestly the good old fashioned bacon cheeseburger gets my vote, I could take that over and over!

I've heard a ton about this place and it was nice to finally try it. The burger was good. Was it worth the wait of 25+ minutes of standing in line. Probably not. If I wasn't with friends I would have left. The flavors are eclectic and I can see how some of them work and how others could be instagram worthy, but on the so-so for tastebuds. I want to give it five stars, but their lack of accepting credit cards is very disappointing. There is no reason to only take cash unless you're working for the mob or laundering money these days. Yes, the other folks in line paid cash, but plastic is just easier and more convenient

This place is a complete dump in my opinion. I just left there tonight and it will be the last time I’ll ever waste my money here. The service was absolutely awful. The girl at the window was rude, condescending, and down right disrespectful. She was constantly trying to rush my order, rolled her eyes every time I listed a new thing. (I ordered a south pacific burger, a reuben burger, a pint of onion rings, and a side of BBQ sauce, no MODS or anything. 4 items. Everything as is.) After her attitude and rudeness I decided to not leave a tip because I just felt outright disrespected to which her response was to reach through the window and shake the tip bucket at me. I declined again and went to wait for my order. As someone who works in the restaurant industry I totally understand having a bad day and being a little moody especially towards the end of the night. However I ALSO understand the balance of putting on a customer service face and giving the best service I can, even when I’m a bit moody myself. Having a bad day does not excuse being snappy and rude when I myself was trying to be polite. I will admit I got a little attitude at the end when she shook the tip bucket at me. Now as for everything going on while I waited for my food which took 45 minutes by the way, and I was 1 of 2 small orders. The mother/owner was quite literally screaming at her kids the entire time I was standing out there being eaten alive by mosquitoes. All while what I could only assume were her children, were running around the hot dangerous kitchen, banging loudly on things, and getting yelled at to keep their hands out of the CUSTOMERS FOOD!!! (Mind you I could hear everything going on inside clearly from a good 5 yards away, and with their windows closed.) I cannot express enough how unsanitary and DANGEROUS that is for both the children and the cooks! That kitchen is tiny, and filled hot surfaces and sharp objects. When I finally received my food, the window woman was once again extremely rude and practically threw my bag at me. I ended up asking the window woman why I had such a long wait, and she told me it was the onion rings, which one would think would mean the onion rings were hot correct? Wrong. They were barely even lukewarm when I got to my car. On top of the fact that I knew she lied to me for why my food took a bit of time, because I clearly heard the mother yell at her youngest for knocking my burger off of the counter. On top of the onion rings being cold, my burgers were awful. They have a sign that reads “Unless specified well done, most burgers will come medium-medium well.” I didn’t specify well done, and my burgers were well done and then some. Both were black. The south pacific was awful. The pineapple had the punch of a warheads sour candy but bitter. The ham was sour and the pepper jack cheese tasted off and sour as well. The reuben burger was no better. The sauerkraut tasted like pure horseradish and vinegar, and again, the cheese just tasted completely off. The buns also weren’t toasted but I’m also aware not all places toast their buns. And yes I know this is a side of the road trailer that serves burgers and fried food. So no, I'm not looking for some top of the line service and gourmet food, but there’s a level of respect and decency in both service and food, even with small family places, that this spot misses by MILES. The worst part is I’ve been here only few other times over the last couple years and my experience has been very similar the other few times. I was just hopeful that maybe it was a just a fluke and fifth time would be the charm but I was sourly mistaken. So with the horrible service, terrible kitchen, horrendous food safety, lying, rudeness, and down right disrespect and disregard for their customers, the safety of others and their own children alike, you can understand why I’m giving this place such a low rating. A waste of time and money, I do not recommend coming here and will not be coming back. Absolutely no reason 2 less than subpar burgers and onion rings should...

The burgers are great, I tried a swiss burger a royale burger, and a goat burger. I would say the beef patties tasted the same to me, what differed was the toppings. They all seemed to come with carmelized onions. I thought the roquefort cheese on the royale burger kind of overpowered the taste of the burger, I would only recommend this burger unless you're a big roquefort cheese fan. In this case, you will love this burger.

The GOAT burger was by far the best, it had maple glazed walnuts, goat cheese, and onions. It was a bit sweet because of the maple walnuts but it was sooooo good.

The swiss burger was good but it was just swiss cheese, and carnmelized onions.

These patties are huge. I ordered a double, but I was super hungry, and I wouldn't recommend a double unless you're pretty hungry. They are huge burgers.

On the side I tried the fried cauliflower, and they weren't bad.

Seating is all outdoors, you can order ahead and pick up, that seemed to be the norm here.

If you want desert, the Citgo Cupboard Deli and Bakery just down the road has some maple and blackberry soft-serve, and some excellent baked goods like maple cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, peanut butter squares, the list goes on.

And, when you're finished, you can hit the rail trail and head to Lost...
