We tried Robyn's based on a recommendation from my coworker, and it lived up to her recommendation perfectly! The service was friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming - exactly the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable settling in for a good meal.
My mom and I shared the special which came with a TON of food. We both agreed that the burnt ends were amazing - so much so that we wished we'd just gotten that instead of the smoked pork chop. The green beans were fine, and the fried potatoes were really good. The only thing we didn't care for was the macaroni and cheese. It tasted like some kind of fake cheese and we much prefer homemade.
My daughter got the bacon chicken wrap, which was also a huge portion - she brought half of it home. It was really good (I stole a bite) and the fries, while not homemade, were good too.
The cakes and pies we ordered were all tasty. My mom, husband, and daughter all ate the white wedding cake and they agreed that it was good but quite sweet. The cake tasted like it came from a box, but the frosting was really sweet - probably sweeter than what we're used to since I usually make meringue-based frosting at home. If you love really sweet frosting, you'd probably adore it!
I got the chocolate cream cheese cake, which I really enjoyed. The cake did taste like it came from a box, but I didn't mind at all. The frosting wasn't overly sweet on this one and I LOVED the pecans on top.
The prices were very reasonable for both the quality and quantity of food we received. We're already planning our next visit - can't wait to come back and try more...
Read moreMy husband and I were out searching for a new local place to eat dinner. We chose to explore Robyn's. Upon arrival the country feel was welcoming, great lighting and appeared was full of customers who were sitting down dining in. We arrived before 7pm and the Friday night special was already sold out (ribeye). The menu was quintessential for a small country feel restaurant. The berry salad I ordered was apparently seasonal and wasn't offered at this time, even thoughit was still on the menu. I ended up ordering a chef salad which was large and very filling. However the shredded deli meat style did not do the other toppings justice. Would have loved more bacon bits or red onions to bring the salad to life. They didn't offer any alcoholic drinks. Classic sodas, teas and lemonade were on the menu. We enjoyed the family centered feel, however if you are looking for a date night with more of a variety in the menu you'd be let down. If you want the steak show up early before they run out. My husband was dissapointed as thats what he wanted to try and couldn't. He ended up ordering the catfish instead. It was decent. We enjoyed the onion rings and their secret sauce which was spicy and it was the best thing we ate during this visit. It's not a bad place by any means, just didn't live up to our...
Read moreI've been here a few times now, and like Robyn's rather well. It's a real cozy little place sitting in historic downtown Cameron. Inside the old building, the decor is southwestern. The feet of the chairs are cleverly covered with tennis balls, a la your granny's walker. The menu is kind of short, but service is excellent. My favorite item is the tenderloin sandwich. It's sizable, seasoned and breaded perfectly, and is the best that I've found in Cameron. The burgers are done on a flattop with a little crisp to them. I tried their salted caramel burger, and just couldn't come around to it. The fries are lightly breaded. Of the appetizers I've tried, the cheese balls are outstanding! They also offer sweet potato fries with a cinnamony sweet sauce that practically makes them a dessert. Parking is on the street, and the hours are short, but it's very affordable. My wife and I had an appetizer, sandwiches, and drinks...
