Double Egg — Restaurant in Campton Hills

Update - they asked me to email them and advised that I would get a refund. This was a few weeks ago, have not received a refund.

Won't be back. This was our second visit, first time was questionable but we figured we would give it another shot. Ordered Belgian waffles with strawberries. .. clearly the strawberries were not fresh. When I asked for fresh strawberries our waitress said but they're not out of a can... okk.. they brought me fresh strawberries finally. In the picture the left is what they served and the fresh ones are on the right. Then they told me they will comp my strawberries so they took $3.50 off my bill, sorry. You should have comped my meal. To make things worse, I'm pregnant and it's very obvious, don't want to get sick from food that...

Staff was kind, attentive, and prompt. Food though... not great for the value.

B&G - Rather generic, and strange to see what looked like chopped link sausage in lieu of crumbled. Mostly just tasted like black pepper. Biscuit was ok.

Pancakes - Quite overworked and glutenous. Near-bread-like chew to them.

Corned Beef Hash Skillet - Menu said homemade corned beef hash, but didn't seem any different than commercial canned hash. Enjoyed the hash browns and their finer grating. Eggs were competently cooked over medium, if not slightly overdone. Appear to substitute 4 small eggs rather than 2 large.

Coffee - Pretty standard, but significantly more expensive than drip coffee at major national...

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Sunday, Oct 21, 2024. We enjoyed the reasonable prices and large portions amount breakfast food. More importantly, the waitress staff and management were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The environment appeared clean in most of their common areas. I have OCD, so I am a little anal-retentive when it comes to cleaning areas.

The eggs were very fresh and fresh fruit comes with every breakfast order. 😋 The only complaint was their bacon is too thin and comes in thin super crunchy small strips.
