I sent an email to the “area director” listed on the site the day after this incident, but there was no response, so here we are.
I took my great aunt out for her 98th birthday at the yesterday. Her choice was 110 Grill in Canton. I had not been, she had and was really happy with the food there.
I was pleasantly surprised that we were immediately asked upon arrival if we needed a gluten free menu. I dine out many times and have never been asked the question, nor have I seen a specific gluten free menu. We did need one, my 98 year old aunt has celiac.
Once more, after being greeted by the server, Prescott (at least that was the name at the top of the receipt) he discussed allergies and confirmed our need for the gluten free offerings. We all ordered, my aunt got a turkey burger off the gluten free menu.
Meals come, my salad was great and my two and 4 year olds loved their Mac and cheese. My aunt is enjoying her burger when Prescott comes by to make sure everything is good. We say yes, he walks away. He comes by again a few moments later, asks the same question and walks away. The third time he looks at my aunts lunch she ordered off your specific gluten free menu and says “that’s not a gluten free bun”. Confused, she was trying to figure out how something like that could happen (As we all were, I’m sure him included). I could tell he was really distraught about this. He took her entire plate and offered to remake it. She was eating the fries still, and he could have left those there so she had something. After all, we were eating for about 5-10 minutes at this point.
Moments later he comes back. “You just had our last turkey burger so we’re now out of turkey burgers”. He offered her the option to get her something else but I know she just wanted to be done with it all and decided to have nothing.
We wrapped up, got boxes, paid the bill for my boys and by lunch and left. My heart broke for my aunt. This was her birthday lunch and she had nothing to enjoy except the scraps from my kids lunches.
I feel the feel the restaurant should have done more to accommodate their own mistake. While a little gluten wouldn’t be severe to my aunt, I know it goes without saying that if this were a serious allergy and a mistake like his happened the outcome for the customer would not...
Read moreLast summer, my mother and I stopped in for lunch. We were impressed with the menu. We were also impressed with the quality of our food, which we thought was reasonably priced. But what made our experience truly remarkable was the extraordinary service we received from our server, Aaliyah. Business was slow when we came in. As a fellow server / bartender, I know MANY other people would have sat back on their heels and failed to give us their best effort and undivided attention. Aaliyah did precisely the opposite. She made my mother and I feel seen, heard, warmly welcomed, and genuinely appreciated. In so doing, she demonstrated authentic hospitality, thorough menu knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, accurate and articulate communication, and a rare and remarkable dedication to excellence. Aaliyah answered every question quickly, accurately, and professionally. She accommodated every request with warmth and precision. She demonstrated impeccable timing while being attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. Everything we requested made its way to us at exactly the right time, and in a way that exceeded our expectations. Just before we could ask for anything, Aaliyah would discreetly appear and prove herself a mind reader by asking the question on our behalf. Our waters were repeatedly topped off, our drinks and garnishes were promptly replaced, our special requests were perfectly accommodated, our dishes were efficiently cleared, our table was meticulously groomed, our leftovers were carefully packaged, and we left with a rare sense of genuine admiration and appreciation. In other words, our experience was characterized by Aaliyah's outstanding efforts and exemplary service. Because of Aaliyah, I can confidently say that my mother and I WILL return to 110 Grill. Because every word of this review is sincere, I believe Aaliyah should receive a raise, promotion, and / or other rewards that are commensurate with her efforts and reflective of the tremendous value...
Read more110 Grill is a chain that serves modern American cuisine. There are about 40 locations in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. They pride themselves with offering gluten free options and an awareness of food allergies.
This location is located in the Shops of Farmington. There are plenty of parking especially out back by the red barn. The restaurant was large and spacious. There was a huge U-shaped bar. They also have a nice patio area with plenty of seating and a fire pit; this would be great when the weather is nice.
My family and I had lunch on Saturday. It was busy but not overwhelming. Our server was busy but super attentive and friendly. I noticed it was very kid-friendly since there were other kids there and they had a kids menu.
Their menu was vast menu and I wanted to try so many food items. I started off with a hibiscus margarita; oh my, one of the best I've had, it was a 5/5. We also had the asian calamari; it's fried battered squid, banana peppers, and a side of sweet chili. This was mouthwatering good and it was a 4/5. I had a cesar half salad which was toothsome; the dressing, parmesan, croutons, and salad ratio was perfection. My main entree, I had the prosciutto wrapped cod; that is baked cod, wrapped with prosciutto, served over parmesan risotto and broccoli with lemon butter. The showstopper was the parmesan risotto, I could eat a gallon of that lol. The cod was okay, it needed more flavor but the prosciutto definitely helped with the flavor. Overall the cod fish was 3.5/5.
Next time, I want to try their Thai sesame salmon, apricot shrimp risotto, pulled pork Mac and cheese, Bolognese, crab rangoon dip, and firecracker shrimp, to name a few. I was so torn but I chose a bit of a healthier option due to my New Year resolution. I loved that they had the total calories next to the menu items. My family and I look forward to...
