Best Fried Chicken I Have Ever Eaten -Period!
After a disastrous dining experience in Carthage the night before, I was prepared to subsist on candy bars until we got back to Chicago. But fortunately for me, as I was gassing up at the BP station down the street, my hunger got the best of me. Driving down 5th, I saw the American Grille, and noticing the huge number of cars in the parking lot, I figured this must be where Canton eats on Sunday. Well, pretty much. But we were seated quickly and got our menus. Sunday Specials were fried chicken $6.95, and ribeye steak, 12 bucks. Both with 2 sides. Well, I figured if anybody knows chicken (outside the South ) it's small-town white folks. So we ordered our 1/2 chicken with home made mash and chicken gravy, and Cole slaw. About 20 minutes later (all are cooked to order) our chicken came out, hot, crispy and juicy. Just a light dusting of seasoned flour and a bath in hot oil.

They must have dispatched this clucker earlier in the day, because it was the freshest tasting chicken we'd ever eaten . Again , with two sides and a dinner roll, $6.95!!! ($7.95 during the week).
If this place were only 100 miles away (instead of 200) from my house, I'd be there every Sunday. But for now, all you lucky "Cantonese" - and occasional Peorians - will have this gem to yourselves. But I'll be back for sure if I'm ever in the area and you can take that...
Read moreBeautiful welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Wide variety of great food. I eat at American Grille at least 4 or 5 times a month. When family comes to town I always take them to American Grille for food and to hang out and catch up. I have so many favorites from the menu I don't know where to start. I'll say I love their pies, and there is always a wide variety of pies to choose from. Breakfast can be served anytime they are open. I am waiting for them to open up right now so I can go there for some breakfast. I don't know how anyone can give them less than a 5 star rating, to be totally honest. Hands down it is my favorite restaurant in Fulton County. I have been eating there for 11 years. I am always more than satisfied and never disappointed. ~...
Read moreVisited this restaurant for a lunch buffet today, and it was a complete mess. Way too crowdedâso congested that you canât even walk or sit comfortably. The food was extremely oily with barely any variety. But the biggest red flag? No proper billing. You just go to the counter, and the manager casually tells you a totalâno printed bill, no breakdown, nothing. You have no idea what youâre being charged for. His arrogant attitude made it worseâlike heâs doing you a favor by taking your money.
It feels like because this place is in a small town, theyâre getting away with this kind of shady billing practice. Thereâs no transparency, and clearly no oneâs holding them accountable. Definitely not going back and wouldnât...
