Camino Real — Restaurant in Canton

Let me start by saying that I'm not a review type of guy. When I look a place up, I couldn't care less what anybody else thinks, but I do appreciate the pics people post because that alone determines if I give the place a shot. I was driving through Canton with the wife and kid when they got hungry. We weren't in the mood for fast food and wanted to find somewhere to sit and have lunch. We came across this restaurant. I'm from an area of the city of Chicago with a dense Mexican population and some of the best Mexican restaurants, so I'm always a little biased when I eat Mexican food anywhere outside of my city, let alone my neighborhood. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by this little spot on a corner of Main St.. The food was on point, the horchata was delicious, even the atmosphere was pretty dope. I wish I would've gotten our waiter's name, because he was so welcoming as soon as we walked through the door. Make sure you ask for the spicier salsa, which our waiter was more than happy to offer and bring out after he saw me devouring the complimentary tostadas. The food came out unbelievably fast and everything blew up my very low expectations. The cuisine was legit and even though I felt like I was about to explode, I could not stop eating. Good Mexican Food Great Margaritas! Drove in from Chicago to handle some business in nearby Cuba. It’s about 9pm and Called ahead to make sure we could get in and EAT after missing out at two local pubs as there kitchens close at 9 or earlier on the weekdays. Was really looking for a good beer and a great burger for the family and I. Anyways they took really good care of us considering they probably wanted to Go home. The food was good! Steak and chicken fajitas, the rice and beans, enchiladas have a good sauce. Great prices and big portions! Had the small pitcher of Margaritas and it was perfect for 2! If your in Canton Il this a great spot to eat. Nicely decorated on the inside. Staff was excellent!!!. Orchata was tasty, good salsa for the chips. Guacamole was good as well. Happy we ended up finding this place. Best part it’s down the street from the Bed and Breakfast we were staying...

Now throw in the small town charm, not to mention a good location right on the corner of Chestnut and Main Street in Downtown Canton on the square. You get Real, El Camino Real.

The food here is absolutely awesome and so was the staff. I had the chimichanga. My nephew had the fajitas, which came to him on a still sizzling plate. Located 2 doors down from a movie theater, this place might be where you want to go for dinner and a movie.

Parking? No worries, lots of parking close by. Either park on the square, Chestnut Street OR the huge parking lot right behind the restaurant located on Ave. A.
