Grindstone Tavern — Restaurant in Canton

We've been here several times and I do like the idea of the place -- a big improvement from its predecessor -- but someone should train the servers to up their tableside skills. My last visit featured a 1/2" hard plastic shard in the spinach salad. It was a piece of packaging. I found it, unfortunately, in my mouth. On the servers next stop by I mentioned the plastic and told him it must have come from the packaging. It was sitting on the table but no need for show and tell. I was very understanding but wanted him to be aware and let the kitchen know. Before I could say anything else he mumbled 'yeah, must be from the package.' And just walked away. Huh? He didn't come back until we asked for the bill -- which included the salad. I know he's young but since the place runs without a hostess or an 'adult in the room' how will the service standards ever improve? Who's in charge here and...

A most disappointing experience. Although wait staff was very friendly, having your young children running around freely and approaching tables and customers multiple times during their meal is less than appropriate. We both had a burger that was okay but nothing more. Both burgers were over done and the fries were luke warm. The menu boasts hand cut crinkle fries. No way, they were frozen and could very well have been Ore Ida. This review is not flattering but it is honest. We so wanted to love this place! I first went into this place after walking around Antiques on The Farmington. I went in with a friend one late afternoon. I don’t mean to sound cheesy, but it felt as if we entered as strangers and left with a new group of friends. The staff is super kind and all of the patrons there are clearly regulars, but in a really welcoming way. They do live music Some nights which I haven’t been to yet. Every single thing I’ve eaten there is unbelievably delicious… You would t expect it in such a small bar setting. Highly recommend checking this place out! Chuck on his crew...
