Waffle House — Restaurant in Canton

This location was a big disappointment on the two occasions that I visited. Two different trips to Canton and two different times of the day. The first visit was after the breakfast rush but before lunch. 10:30 am. Although the 2 staff members were polite, the restaurant was nowhere close to clean. I should not have to ask for a wet towel to wipe down my own table and seat. Besides taking our order and bringing the bill, the only interaction was between the two employees. The coffee was old and tasted so. The confusing part to me was we were the only table seated the entire time we were there; nothing was being cleaned and I did not dare go the restroom. The second visit started out very similarly, only this time when I asked for a towel to wipe down the stickiness from the table from the previous patrons, I was directed to sit in the "clean" section of the dining area. Same problem sticky table. The server was eating, served me old coffee again, and the only interest in conversation she or the cook were interested in was about the third employee that was on the clock but not there at the time. He showed up shortly after a few drop-in customers who seemed to quickly pick-up call-in orders. No phone rang nor did the cash register before they left. The server continues to eat her breakfast managing to get lots of it on her shirt. When my bill came, I smiled nicely, asked a little about the town of Canton and was told it is not a place to do anything in. Tipped 20.00 on a 6.24 bill and informed the server to divide it however she saw fit. Joe can’t scramble an egg to save his life or mine. I purposely waited 20 minutes before in my car to make sure this guy wasn’t cooking my breakfast and he still rode the clock after his shift ended to mess up my breakfast. I asked the new girl that waited on me if the guy with the dreads was on eggs and she said yeah, well that was a lie, he was on grits and the grits were perfect. But Joe, Joe can’t cook. Either the eggs are dry or they run away from you on the plate. I ordered eggs with ham and cheese as part of my all star, and what I get back is ham and eggs, no cheese. My waiters brilliant idea to resolve this is to have Joe cook 1 scrambled egg with cheese so I can just mix it in the other eggs. Yeah great idea- NOT ,because as it turns out the first bite I take into these eggs has the biggest CRUNCH I ever did hear. This man is back here cooking the shells and all. I have never left a plate full of food at Waffle House, but today was the day. I thought okay maybe the waffle will be okay, man the other side of this waffle was cold and wet. I can’t even understand how this is possible. All these new people and no one trains them and the guy waiting tables with the twists is cashing out his tips at the table and has the nerve to say that someone he broke $100 for didn’t tip him . Man I literally just watched you argue with two old dudes about what was supposed to be on the plate because you didn’t write it down. While travelling thru Canton, my partner and I decided to stop at the Waffle House in Canton, Mississippi two days ago, October 3, 2021 around 9:00 PM. No one greeted us as we made our way through dirty tables and counter to a booth next to the grills. A dirty mop handle greeted us as we sat down, I noticed that the table was greasy and had debris smeared by the napkin holder. The staff seemed to be in a very playful mood with each other as we sat patiently waiting to be served. My partner retrieved two menus from the counter, and after several more minutes, a waitress came over to the booth and we ordered our food. When our food arrived, she gave my partner plastic utensils. When he asked why he did not receive silverware, she then produced the item requested. While we were eating, the chaos with the staff disrupting the meal continued with loud antics from them. A Spanish family sat down at a table, and a woman who seemed to be the manager went to their table and told them they had to leave because the restaurant only did carry out! They left. The manager was a short, stout, black woman with long braids in her hair. I was truly shocked at her behavior towards what would have been customers. Upon paying for the meal, I noticed that the waffle machines were filthy, along with the greasy grills, floors and windows. IAM SURPRISED The Health Dept. has not been notified! I WAS SHOCKED BY THE CONDITION OF THE RESTAURANT AND THE UNPROFESSIONAL, PREJIDICED BEHAVIOR OF YOUR STAFF!! I would not recommend ANYONE to ever eat in that place again.
