My fiance and I hadn’t had a night out in a long time and saw what looked like a great restaurant.. sadly we left with feeling like we had done something wrong to receive the service we did from the waitress…. She was not welcoming, walked away from us as we asked questions about the menu, then when asking another question the waitress had stuck her hand in my fiancés face to stop him from talking to ask me a question. Upon ordering a white wine off their menu I was given a red and when asked if the wine I order was white since it was under their white wine selection I was told no it was in fact red wine.. I kept it as I don’t mind red wine just was looking for a lighter flavor for the evening. As we sat there waiting on our food we saw everyone else receiving bread at their tables, being told specials of the evening and over all attention, when we had gotten none of that wondering why we had different service then the rest of the restaurant, we spoke to the owner who did offer to give me the actual wine I ordered, I declined as I don’t drink often enough to want 2 glasses in one evening. He offered to take care of us next time we arrive but unsure of if we want to run the possibility of being disappointed again .. even the day after I am still wonder what judgement the waitress had made of us to not provide us anywhere near the level of service the rest of the restaurant had received while we were there. The food was good and the atmosphere of the overall restaurant was pleasant and the owner seemed caring but the way the waitress treated us outweighed the good of any part of...
Read moreIf you have an hour to an hour and a half to wait for your dinner, drinks, and the bill, then this is what to expect here. The service was inattentive, and we had to flag someone down to get drinks. The owner pushes wine to customers, so they don't pay attention to the slow service. Our salads were very good (arugula greens & spinach), but the entrees were mediocre. While waiting for the entrees, the entire restaurant was filled with a grill smelling smoke. It was so intense that my eyes burned, and I couldn't breathe. I had to go outside because I couldn't breathe. We think the kitchen was cleaning the grills with chemicals, and the air conditioner shut off, too! I was getting sick, and my husband suggested that we get the meals to go. I got the cheese wheel with shrimp which was bland and nothing more than chunks of cheese, and pepper. My husband said his meal was fine, but he too was experiencing the burning in his eyes. It took forever to get our check to get out of there. We left with headaches and bloodshot eyes from the smoke. I will never return to this restaurant. It seems like the owner has his regulars that get special attention and service. The place is loud, air conditioning does not work, and the vents in the bathrooms are filthy. Carmelo's in Punta Gorda is worth the drive, and the food there is authentic, fresh, and flavorful. It appears that the owner of Moretti's is overwhelmed, and the food isn't fresh...
Read moreI don't understand the 5-star reviews, aside from friendly service staff there is not much else to rave about, its simple Italian food without much flair. Starting with the atrocious basket of skimpy slices of I guess what could be French bread, not warm, not crusty.
Pasta Sinatra a few tiny calms and shrimp in a thin bland sauce supposedly with gaeta olives & capers. I think my dish had two olives, (one with a pit I chomped down on) no capers and a few tomato pieces. Eggplant Rollantini was routine.
Pasta was over-cooked, food arrived at best warm, portions on the smaller side.
This place is for those that think chicken parm and spaghetti and meatballs are haute cuisine and are blown away by a fried chicken cutlet with tomato sauce and melted cheese and call it amazing.
5 stars implies its tops overall and a real standout! Which this place is not, does it check a box for an Italian eatery in the Cape? that it does but comparisons to iconic places like little Italy in New York or italy-italy is ludicrous. IMO this is about as basic Italian food you can get in line with what a Diner could make, the word 'Cucina' in their name doesn't make it any more inspired or special.
Misto (Cape Coral NO LONGER RECOMMENDED) il Pomodoro (Fort Myers) Carmello's (Punta Gorda) by far...
