It's not a fancy, gourmet style Chinese restaurant. It is not a fancy, gourmet style Japanese restaurant. But it is a tremendously delicious Chinese/Japanese restaurant. Hubs and I stumbled in there one day and were so happy to see two of our faves from Boston style food - Chow Fun (wide rice noodles) and Scallion Pancakes. So we ordered them and it was the VERY BEST Asian food we have eaten in twelve years of being in SWFL. We love Egg Fu Yung and they made it to order, crispy and loaded with veggies and pork, with no gravy. Their steamed chicken and veggies taste so fresh and the veggies have a snap, still crisp. I went there for sushi lunch several times (OMG, the salmon!!! And the sweet potato roll is so good) and decided to throw Hubs a surprise 70th. Judy, the owner, worked with me, helped me order and make a menu that included sushi platters for each table, appetizers all around, and family dining for main course. She graciously invited us to bring our own dessert for which she provided serving pieces and plates. There were 23 of us at the dinner and all said they would be coming back on their own. We're going for Mother's Day tonight, and though the inside is kind of retro Chinese and the food is far from fancy or schmansy, it is fresh, well-prepared and pleasantly served. And it is WAY BETTER than any other Asian food we have ventured to taste...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed over night at a Hampton Inn in Fort Myers on July 31st after spending the day on Sanibel Island. With the COVID numbers rising again we decided to stay in our room and order out and have it delivered. We ordered a pupu platter for 2, pork fried rice and beef & broccoli. The restaurant told us 30-45 minutes for delivery and it took an hour so we were quite hungry. We opened the bags and couldn’t believe there were no plastic ware nor napkins! We had to ask the front desk for utensils. The food was terrible. The teriyaki sticks had no flavor, the spare ribs were all bone and the fried food tasting like 3 days old. It was crunchy and tasteless. The only item that was edible was the fried rice and I’d give that a 4 out of 10. Maybe the food is much better eating at the restaurant but I highly recommend you stay away from their take out. We believe it’s all leftovers from the previous days to try...
Read moreOrdered delivery. Got basic dinner of chicken fried rice and general tsos chicken. Let's just say I couldn't even eat it. The General tsos was some gelatinous red sauce with no flavor, the chicken itself was hard, dried, almost like beef jerky and shredded when I tried to bite into it. Next, I tried the chicken fried rice which is hard to mess up; so I thought. It was basically plain white rice with a TON of uncooked onions. I mean there was a chunk of about a quarter of an onion clearly not cut. When I tried to eat this food I gagged. Therefore, I let them know and of course there's nothing they can do but make me a new order which is the last possible thing I want. Maybe going inside the place might not serve you onions with a side of rice but delivery wise, just put your phone back into...
