Bite into Maine is the only eatery that I know of which offers 6, count them, SIX flavors of Lobster Rolls on their menu. There's "Maine" (mayo + chives), "Connecticut" (warm butter), "Picnic" (coleslaw, butter, celery salt), "Wasabi" (zingy wasabi mayo), "Chipotle" (smoky chipotle mayo), and "Curry" (yellow Indian curry mayo)! You would think that all flavors might obscure the natural sweetness of the Maine lobster meat? Have no fear, these are delicate rolls where the lobster flavor still shines through! Two Summers ago, I made multiple trips to Portland ME and had the full cycle of all 6 flavors! Excellent!
The trailer location at Fort Williams Park, Cape Elizabeth ME is where Portland Head Lighthouse is located. You can have your world-class Lobster Rolls along with a world-class view. Portland Head Light is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the world! As would be expected, this location is temporarily closed in the Winter months. Visit their commissary location in Scarborough ME which remains...
Read moreI usually make lobster rolls at home because I'm quite picky. I haven't been out to eat in many months and was craving something good. Decided to try Bite Into Maine because it is a food truck with pickup. They have taken many precautions and response to covid-19. All employees wear masks and were friendly and outgoing despite the incredible heat. Tape on the ground marked out spaces for people in line to stand and socially distance. Sanitizer was readily available. Everyone in line head on masks.
The lobster rolls were amazing! The only thing that disappointed me was that the lobster roll with butter is called the Connecticut. It seems like a place called Bite Into Maine could have come up with a local name.
TIP - apparently you can call ahead and pull up and grab your order. Between waiting in line to order and then waiting for the order to be made we were in the hot, hot sun for 45 minutes. Wish I had thought to call ahead! Kind of pricy, but you are at the most photographed lighthouse in the world, so what do...
Read moreWe had ordered from here while we were at Orange Bike Brewing next door, as the two places are partners. It took about 20 mins to get our food, which was fine, but our lobster roll had cold lobster on it like it had just been taken out of the fridge and put on the roll, so that wasn’t what we were expecting. The menu also said that each sandwich comes with a side of cape cod chips, so I thought I’d get a whole bag of chips as a side, but it appeared that they had split a single serving bag between our 2 meals. The pulled pork sandwich was hot and the flavor was ok, but it was a little expensive for what it was. Overall our order for a lobster roll with extra lobster and a side of butter and a pulled pork sandwich, both with a side of chips, came to a total of about $53, and the food really just isn’t good enough to warrant such a high price. We were disappointed to have paid that much for what we...
