AJ's Bar -N- Grill — Restaurant in Carbondale

Had an urge to just have a couple drinks and a tasty late night meal, and AJ's delivered perfectly. Had the Hot Bleu sauced wings and deep fried pierogis, and they were as good as can be. Crisp wings despite being sauced completely, and pierogis just deep fried to perfection. Bartenders were attentive and friendly as can be. I look forward to coming back to try more of the menu for sure, if the wings are anything to go by, since they're so hard to find done well. If a place can do them this good, betting the rest of the food is as golden.

Update - Food is as golden as can be like I assumed. Got the 'waurin burger', basically a chili cheeseburger. And it was beyond fantastic, the best burger I've had in quite awhile. Absolutely not a handheld food, needed a knife and fork for it, and nothing wrong with that, an absolute treat. Onion rings on the side, and they were completely perfect. No onions sliding out of their batter, just what you want out of them. Another round of chicken wings as well, and like before, completely delicious and damn near perfectly cooked, not soggy with sauce, somehow crispy while also coated in a delicious sauce.

I'll be definitely hitting this place up more often to try their other foods. Drinks are nice too, whiskey sour isn't much more than the pre-mixed stuff, but tasty enough, and absolutely given a generous portion. Absolutely terrible bar. First of all, we purchased 9 tickets and reserved a table to see a band and they “lost the list of reservations”. This left us with no table to sit at and eat the pizza that we ordered. Second of all, the lock on the woman’s restroom did not work properly and I was walked in on while in the bathroom. The management at the bar and the regulars know that the door doesn’t lock. Third of all, we were in a group on the dance floor and a woman started pushing someone in our group and cursing at him because he was tall and standing in the front with our group. This woman then complained to somebody who was named Dan, who seemed to be a manager or employee of the bar, and he immediately kicked us out without asking our side of the story. Dan then started yelling and cursing at two men in our group and then apologized and offered us free drinks. A few minutes later, he was angry again and started screaming in their faces yet again, he had obviously been drinking and had a bottle of beer in his hand (this man also took a shot with someone in our group earlier in the night). We ended up leaving after getting screamed at by Dan. This could have been avoided if the event space wasn’t so over crowded and was properly managed. Haven't been here in years but I had heard it was under new ownership and I see them advertise their wings very heavily. So I figured let's give it a shot. Well, the wings certainly lived up to the hype. Cooked perfectly and the sauces were delicious. Quite a few flavor choices as well. I really liked the fact that they had two different size choices for their wings. I hate jumbo wings, so I really enjoyed the smaller size.
