I'm not one to write many reviews, especially not negative ones...but this place was such a disappointment that it had to be said. The price points lend you to believe you'll be getting something delicious, alas that isn't the case. We ordered the eggs Benedict and ham quiche. The Benedict's only redeeming quality was the pickled red onions. The eggs were baked? Whatever they were, they weren't poached. The cheese and English muffin were cold. Cutting into the quiche caused it to crumble as it was mostly cubed ham and asparagus pieces- not enough egg to hold it together. Also served slightly warmer than room temp. We asked for salt and pepper, expecting such a pricey place to have a pepper mill but were given salt and pepper sachets like you'd get with a hospital meal. We ordered a gorgonzola and a mushroom truffle guerre as we were leaving, hoping to get something worth eating. Disappointed again. To be fair, there were two young people (teenagers perhaps) running the place, likely doing the best they could with what they had. That being said, when I go out for a meal, especially a pricey one, I want it to be better than what one might be served at a kids lemonade stand. Unrelated to the food, but the bathroom was terribly dusty. Sorry to be so ruthless, but I figured I should mention all of the reasons why I'm giving it 3 stars. Lots of room for...
Read moreI walk using a walker so the first thing I notice about a business is if their door or doors are heavy or lite to open, and Carlton Bakery's door was lite so kudos for Carlton Bakery for being handicap friendly ! The first thing i noticed when i walked into the building was the yummy smell of home made bread and yeast! The bakery was a medium sized building and there was breads of every kind imaginable stocked here and there around the room. it made my head spin to see all this bread in one place. I was greeted by a nice lady and I said hi in return. I wanted to by some bread but had a hard time deciding if I wanted white bread or sourdough, so i bought both of them. I went up to the register and placed my bread on the counter and a nice lady with a beautiful smile came over and rang up my order. She put my bread in a bag and I said thank you and she said your welcome. I then put the bread in my bag that I have on my walker and left...
Read moreThere seems to be no system for service. Everytime I've been in, other guests are asking me where to go and if there is a line or system or something. Last time I came in, I waited 40 minutes and my food that was then handed to someone else, in a group of 6, when I was there alone. So the fact that it was just one order of eggs Benedict on the ticket wasn't even taken into consideration. I ended up walking out, without getting my food, that I had already paid for and tipped on, because I had to get to work, after waiting 40 minutes and being told BY ANOTHER GUEST that they are quite certain my food got handed off to someone else. Sorry, but that sucked. You need to create a system for service, give table numbers or take names or something! But, the baked goods are great. That whole thing was ridiculous though, and it is...
