Pho Real — Restaurant in Carmel

Oh man, I dont know how am I gonna start cause this restaurant really blows my mind and pops my brain out.

When I moved to Indy from east coast where Asian cuisines, especially pho, are everywhere and top notch, I was depressed that I wouldn’t be able to taste best pho again. I had been Vietnamese restaurants around here to search my crib where I can come and never wanna leave, but none of them meets my expectation. HOWEVER, one night on a very special day, I had finished one full bowl of pho special after having a buffet literally three hours later. It’s on my birthday when three of my buddies convinced me to try real pho from Pho Real, first I was hesitant because we literally got out of buffet from Fishers. When I saw a bowl of pho came out from the kitchen, I realized I made a right decision. Oh boy when I took a scoop from the broth and gently sipped it, my five senses went completely numb. The broth tasted like teardrop from the heaven and the meats were fresh and super tender. Pho Real not only exceed my expectation but beyond my expectation. It’s every restaurants’ Achilles heels. The quality and taste of the food, I would give it all-stars level.

The services are fabulous, servers work there always smile even on their worst day. They used their heart to serve you and not only they just take order from you but also they voice your opinions on the food to the chef. They always strive to be the best and take every single one of our opinions seriously.

Of course there is downside of this restaurant and it’s the waiting time, but we are not talking about fast food restaurants or restaurants that finish their food to fast up the speed and completely ignore the quality of the food. Would give 0 stars if I could due to the service. Pho was average but the service was horrendous. The two girls serving us were staring us down from the kitchen area and being obnoxious. Whenever they came to our table, they were both laughing so hard when there was nothing comical about the situation and it made us feel super uncomfortable. They rushed us with our bill and kept coming to the table to ask if they could take the tab when we weren’t even halfway done eating. When we said we weren’t ready yet, the server turned around and started mocking us to the girl in the kitchen area. On our way out, they yelled “have a great night!” In a rude tone and hadn’t done that to any other customer walking out. It seemed like their jobs were a joke to them and it was a super uncomfortable experience. The two girls serving us were clearly judging us and were flat out rude while we were polite and respectful customers. We will never be coming to this business again and I highly recommend that you don’t either unless you like being laughed at and mocked by the employees. The vibe in this restaurant was horrible and those who take the time and spend the money to go out to eat should be treated with some decency and respect. I cannot believe people who work in the service industry and work for tips would behave this way...

First, I have been here before with no issues. The food is awesome.

However, yesterday 5 of us went here for lunch and it was busy but there were 3 servers working. We received menus and silverware right away. 15 minutes later we got another server to get our server to take our order. 1 person ordered ice tea and 2 of us order water to drink. It took an hour to get our food. The two people who ordered Pho did not received their plates of accoutrements. My fried rice was quite spicy when I ordered no spice. My friend's noodles had no spice and was supposed to be spicy. My third friend was brought Pho when she ordered something completely different. After 15 minutes she finally got her food. We asked multiple times about our water and received sarcastic responses but never got our waters. One of the Pho orders was supposed to also get steamed rice. When questioned, the server stated "You ordered sweet rice." Uh, what is that? Even so, he didn't get that either. This server clearly has no social awareness and suffers from a white knight, nice guy, victimhood mentality. The other two servers were running their butts off.
