Went today to visit for the first time. Atmosphere is nice, music is appropriate and staff is friendly. However, I was far from completely enjoy my visit. Ordered a Cuban sandwich and my son ordered a Caribbean sandwich, both with yuca frita. My son liked his sandwich. My sandwich was not really a Cuban. It only had the pork, ham and cheese. No pickles or mustard even though it says on the menu that it has. Yuca was good but mojito was not great. Ordered a beer-they didn't had any- so the waitress offered me an iron beer, which I decided to try. After a while she tells me there's no iron beer, disappointing, but understandable. When she brought my food I asked her if she had mojito (the drink) because I am sitting just looking at a full bar. So, she tells me they don't have any alcohol because is a new management and they are changing the permits etc, I too can understand that. But, remember when I just wrote that she offered me an iron beer before?? When she offered me the beer I asked her if this beer had alcohol to which she said it has. So, how come she could sell me the iron beer (obviously if she had it) but suddenly they don't have license to sell alcohol?? Since I don't drink sodas I had to ask for water. Prices for the sandwiches are good, but for the other dishes it seems expensive. But considering that the sandwich was incomplete, I guess that's what I get for what I paid. I'd rather pay $1 more and have a decent sandwich with all the stuff that it's supposed to have. What's up with all these cuban restaurants that they sell you cheap food but then it's not good or something is missing? Dang, just charge a little bit more, people will not mind paying it, but do...
Read moreEvery city that my family and I visit, we make sure to try local Cuban food restaurants and after evaluating over a dozen (including some in Miami, Florida) I can declare that this (along with “El Meson” in Houston, Texas) is the finest I have appraised. The restaurant itself does not look attractive on the outside and the neighborhood is not the greatest, but once you step inside the eatery, the atmosphere is reminiscent of the glamour of pre-revolution Havana. The menu is extensive and the food is exquisite. The aspect that impressed me the most was the restaurant’s authenticity; for instance, it was astonishing to listen to genuine Son, Mambo, and Cha Cha Cha tunes interpreted by vocalist that were famous during the pre-revolutionary era. This last feature was truly unique as most Cuban restaurants in the United States are melodically disappointing, playing Mexican, Puerto Rican, or fast passed contemporary timba music. The service was not the best, but it was appropriate for an economical establishment of this sort. On the whole it was an exceptionally gratifying dining experience and I will categorically recommend Caribbean Café to all of my Cuban friends and family. If you are Cuban, of Cuban descent, or a devotee of legitimate Cuban culture, you will unquestionably appreciate...
Read moreThis place gets an extra star because of their authenticity! If you are looking for an authentic taste of Cuba, come to Caribbean Cuba! My husband and I are from South Florida, where Cuban cuisine is a mainstay. We have been looking for Cuban flavor since we moved here. Today, we struck GOLD. I had the pollo a la plancha with black beans, rice, and maduros, drizzled with fresh squeezed lime. The savory marinade of the chicken paired with the sweet char or the Mmaduro and the tart acid of the lime created a Fiesta in my mouth! I simply couldnt stop lifting the fork! I had the lunch portion, but it was large enough that I needed a Togo box. My husband had the Bistec de Palomilla at the suggestion of our waitress, Yilena. We spent the meal trying to decide whose plate was better (mine of course!). But his plate was delicious also. We also tried the Yuca cheese bites, since we had never had anything like these, and we are glad we did! This unusual appetizer featured a layer of fried yuca with a creamy, melted cheese center. We will definitely have these again when we come back with our kids. This place gets my vote over and over. I cannot wait to go back! It is a hole in the...
