Overall I was pleased to find a nice place to eat in a small town that did not involve fast food chains (of which I despise). Staff was courteous, service was prompt, atmosphere was nice and clean. I was offered a rib dinner special- half a rack of ribs, cornbread, and two sides. To be fair, I've spent a lot of time around a smoker and have eaten at some of the top nationally ranked BBQ joints across the country (CLE Mabel's BBQ, Austin TX Franklin's and Salt Lick, etc...) In comparison (and as stated earlier I only tried the ribs) Jimmy's Backyard BBQ left me wishing for more of a smoke taste. The bottom of the ribs had a rubbery consistency, the meat was brown all the way through with zero presence of a smoke ring, and they were served topped with BBQ sauce. I would of liked to taste more of a rub on the meat, some spice, some bark, some texture, etc... The ribs came off the bone very nicely, with a bite, instead of merely falling off when handled. And I was dining at 1:30pm on a Thursday so I wasn't expecting their best effort.
Overall it surpassed what society has become to accept as BBQ, this is def a step up from the sauce covered droll ribs one would have the unfortunate experience of consuming at say a Chili's or Abblebees. I will come back I ever find myself in Carrollton again, and try some of their pulled meats, as I have to assume might be a step up. Hopefully they have the flavor of a good rub, texture of a bark, and aren't served swimming in sauce so that I may add my own (if I see fit). Proper BBQ does not require any sauce.
Thanks for lunch, and...
Read moreMy husband and I recently moved to Carrollton and quickly fell in love with Jimmy’s. The food is fantastic and we became regulars. Unfortunately, tonight, the girl that was behind the counter was not so fantastic. We came in and we were ordering when we were told they were out of rice. Which was fine, it happens! The girl continued and put a tiny bit of brisket on the tortilla. My husband then asked for a little more as it wasn’t a lot and there was no rice to fill the burrito up like it normally would be. She then proceeded to tell us very rudely that it was going to be $3 more for a little extra because they weighed things out. Which, normally we would have no problem with, but again, there was no rice. My husband turned to me and we talked a little and she said, “are you getting it or not?” We then decided we would go somewhere else and as we were walking out she snapped “you just wasted food you can’t be doing that.” And then continued to talk about us as we walked...

I personally couldn't tell you much about the other items on the menu lol because this is always my go too! I used to drive 2 hours just to feast on one of these bad boys ( which always happen to last me 2 meals lol) !!! I've been coming here for abput 8 years and no family owned joint has ever come close to this one ! The best part is the homemade ingredients they make, that you literally couldn't replicate if you tried ! Trust me I've failed multiple times lol. If you haven't been here I strongly encourage u to make the trip ! Also , The employees have always been very respectful and kind so that's always a huge plus ! FYI if your not from the area or haven't been here before , I'd suggest keeping your eyes peeled because it's little and kind of hiddenish so you may just...
