This is our first time here. Food is tasty and preety good. The menu is a little overwhelming and tricky, if you're like me, and don't understand Spanish ....but hey, it never stops me from ordering good food like this!
From the outside, you might not think much of even parking and going in, because of all the glass is covered in bars. DON'T LET THAT SCARE and ESPECIALLY FOOL YOU! GO IN!!!
As soon as I stepped in, I could see how packed this place was! It was around 2pm on a weekday, but it was busy and the phones barely stopped ringing with orders. I couldn't see cook, but I could hear non-stop slapping, which I'm assuming was the making of tons of pupusas!
The purpose of my visit was the pupusas. Love pupusas! I ordered 2 chicharon con queso pupusas. After ordering, they give you a number on a stand, and they serve you at the table. When my order was brought, they also bring you a jar of pickled cabbage (typically given with pupusas anywhere you go) along with 2 bottles of sauce H and M. The pupusas were thick, moist, and full of pork and lots of cheese.
I immediately dug into the first one, with lots of hot sauce and cabbage. Peruvian pickled cabbage is seriously the best thing ever! The pupusas was yummy, but because they put so much cheese, I could barely get through the second one. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Maybe others might like more cheese, but I think if it had less, I could have eaten more. Maybe 3! Yeah, too much lol
I also ordered a horchata. Delicious and addicting. Order a large ..trust me!
The customer service is excellent! The woman I spoke with was super-friendly. I asked how long they've been at this location and she said "7 years". She then told me about another one in San Pedro and gave me a coupon to use there. Very cool!
I'll be back here. I wanted to try the tamales con hilote, but they didn't have any tameles today.
Thanks for...
Read moreFirst time trying out this restaurant. Found out about this little gem from instagram. The service is great. Arrived close to closing, so there was a decent amount of parking. Parking is most likely full during the day. This location, from what I saw, only has two tables and three stools facing the window. Mostly takeout, I assume, since not enough dining space.
The pupusas are ridiculously delicious. They don't stinge on the fillings. I tried to show in one of my pictures just how much filling they have, but burned myself doing so 😅. Great flavors, very cheesy, and delicious. The salsa and curtido was excellent as well, not served raw like other places tend to do. Highly recommend you try out the pupusa revuelta and chicharron con queso.
Also ordered a pan con pollo. Since it was takeout, they put all the toppins on the bread and put the 'pollo con recado' on the side, so the bread wouldn't arrive soggy. Excellent flavors.
Definitely coming back to try out some breakfast and sopas.
12/15/2024: Update review. Lowering my grade to 3 stars since it doesn't allow 3.5 stars. The pupusas here are still bomb. What kills it is the service. Ordered online at 1:15pm, and was given a pickup time of 15 minutes. You would think a place that specializes mostly in pupusas would have them ready by the pickup time, but no. My order wasn't ready until 2:00 pm. 10 pupusas. The lady behind the register is kind and curteous. But the wait time is a...
Read moreHere's an honest review while the food is still pretty fresh in my belly. Just got home and finished eating.
I'll admit, I was apprehensive about this place. Lots of negative reviews about customer service and the wait times but I experienced none of that. The lady who took the order was welcoming and answered any questions we had. It did take about 15 minutes for the food but what do you expect when they're making it fresh?
The pupusas were great, hearty portions and flavorful. We got the reveulta, chicharron Y Queso, pollo, and queso. No complaints about any of them.
The curtido was really good. It was crispy, tangy and a little sweet. Some bites did have some heat but it wasn't a lot.
The Salsa Roja was a little spicy but oh so good. I prefer it to be a little more spicy but that's not a complaint, that's my preference.
Then of course you have to get the platanos and the casamiento. Personally I'm not a fan of platanos maduros, I prefer tostones but these were FIRE. The casamiento was so flavorful and I was surprised at how much beans you actually get. I feel it's usually pretty rice heavy but not this time.
All in all I would give this place a 8.2/10 and will definitely be coming back.
Also, no photos because the food went so fast when we...
