Rocco's Deli Italiano Carson — Restaurant in Carson

Feeling groggy after my usual infusion. I was craving some pasta. Ordered an Italian beef hot sandwich, tuscana soup for myself and a kids spaghetti and meatball for my nephew. I ordered the Italian beef because of the show The Bear. They made it looks so good on the show and I had to try one. The sandwich was delicious. It was everything I thought it would be. I recommend this sandwich. The soup was also very very delicious. The spaghetti was good too in my opinion. My nephew didn't enjoy the meatball but I thought I was very tasty. While I would love to give this place 5 stars, I took 1 start away for the service during pick up. I arrived to grab my bag at the counter. I could see it was sitting on the back counter. I grabbed a take out menu to look at and understood that it may have seemed like I hadn't ordered yet or had placed an online order. So I didn't mind the delay too much. The lady at the register was packing some food so I let her do her thing. She turns around and asks if I'm ready or if I needed more time. I answered I have an online order and gave my name. She looks at me then says ok give me a moment. I say ok and wait. Another few minutes past by and 2 other people ask if I've been helped and I reply I have an online order and give my name. They look at the first lady then go on with their tasks. The first lady looks at me and again says give me a moment and she proceeds to put the stuff she was packaging somewhere but never returns and a totally new and different lady comes up and asks if I'm ready lol. I tell her I have an online order and my name. She then turns around looks at my order on the bag and says here you go. Not really a good look since I ended up waiting 10 minutes for them to hand me my order that was right behind the register in front of the lady who was packing salads for no one. They had salads in the display case that were not being purchased as they're was no one else in the restaurant that ordered a to...

I have been curious about this place for a while and was very disappointed with my experience and the food: cold mulbery sandwich (bland) & hot meatball(ok but meatballs are huge making difficult to eat) I believe I must have gone on an off day because they do have great reviews and the customer service was awesome. The owner or manager was present and in constant communication with staff to ensure the quality is up to his standard which I thought was great; did not appear bossy just has high expectations for the benefit of the customer. Maybe that's why I expected more than what got. Anyways, somehow our order for the hot sandwich got lost and we patiently waited until it was clear it was not being made. We got a boars head cheesecake for the wait and although we appreciate the gesture it wasn't good and ensured I would never return.

With that said, it could have been an off day and the wrong sandwich but I recommend you try...

So far everything I've ordered from here has been as close to perfect as possible. The roast beef sandwich had just the right amount of flavor, the potato salad was perfect and fresh, the pastrami was made how it should be, the meatball sandwich was amazing and even had the perfect amount of crisp to the toasted bread, the Arthur Ave was delicious and fresh. Some may say it's expensive but I disagree, the ingredients are top quality and there is never any bad aftertaste when eating meals cooked with quality and fresh ingredients. My only regret is not finding this place sooner and I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. For comparison, this blows Jersey Mikes away and I love Jersey Mikes, just this place is on another level. This is that old school deli that rarely exists...
