I have a lot to say about this place. It has the potential to be one of the top Halal spots in central NJ.
At first the spicy zinger was really good. I loved having it. However I recently ordered it and it tasted like fish. Probably from the oil it was fried in. There was barely any spice on it as it used to be. I didn’t finish it and I threw it out.
I enjoy the halal spot platter and the hot spot naan. When all the flavors come together, they explode in your mouth and the taste is beautiful. But, the problem is now they charge extra for extra vegetables and salad. $1 for chickpeas. That’s extremely unreasonable in my opinion. Maybe 10 cents. Not $1. It’s not like they are giving the whole can.
Finally, this restaurant always has some issue. Last time I went, the credit card machine wasn’t working. Before that, the refrigeration and AC was messed up and I saw the worker unplug it. Before that, their POS system wasn’t working and I ordered online but they couldn’t find my order because it was down.
This spot is nice, they just have to fix it up a bit. Maybe do some renovations and change the way they run things. The...
Read moreTried this place for the first time during the holidays and loved it. While it's listed as a gyro place, it's more than that with a great variety of tandoori options. Their white sauce is also much better than The Halal Guys for my taste. Their portions are huge while their prices are very reasonable. They also have the option of getting gyros in naan, which I really liked.
There are a few things that people planning to eat here should keep in mind. While they have seating for dine in, it's a no-frill dining. Don't come here if you are in the mood for a formal dining experience. Come here for the taste instead. Food is served in styrofoam containers and there is no option for fountain drinks or tap water. You have to purchase drinks or water from their refrigerator, although the prices are not too bad for the items.
Just a couple of thoughts for the owner(s). Please put a recycling container for people to throw their used drink bottles. Also, if styrofoam containers can be replaced for dine in then that will help the environment...
Read moreThis hidden gem has some unique pairings that are seriously delicious. My favorite is the halal spot platter - chicken and beef gyro with yellow rice, French fries, mozzarella and white sauce. How they came up with it, I don’t know, but me and my husband crave it on a weekly basis. Heads up, the platter is big enough for 2 to share.
Another delicious item is their butter chicken platter, which pairs traditional Pakistani butter chicken with rice and white sauce. Another must try item is new to their menu - Nutella naan! I don’t even like Nutella and I love it. While their Kababs are of the traditional Pakistani variety, it’s also worth noting because they are amazing.
This unassuming restaurant is no frills, and packs a lot of flavor into their delicious food. Clean eating area which is usually quiet, and comfortable enough for us to bring our toddler. Reasonable pricing along with the flavors of the afore mentioned foods keep is coming back on a...
