Mimmo's Pizza — Restaurant in Carterville

My family and I had lunch at Mimmo. We are originally from Italy but now living in NYC for years. While visiting Carbondale we were so lucky to stumble on this place. Everything was authentic and felt like a little slice of Italy in Southern Illinois. The thin crust personal size pizzas were made fresh to order. The pasta was al dente and great tasting. Finally the dessert Cannoli had a hint of fresh orange zest zest and the expresso coffe was done real Italian ristretto style with just the right amount of natural foam. Hands down the best Italian food in Southern Illinois. Period, end of sentence.

Everything is scratch made and cooked to order, including the sausage, which is the best Italian sausage anywhere. The pizza crust is crisp and chewy at the same time, the sauce is perfect. The pastas are uniformly superb. Special mention goes to the puttanesca and the boscaiola.

The sandwiches are also fantastic and less expensive than at the Subway next door (with much higher quality meats and cheeses). The Italian sub and the meatball sub are standouts.

Simply not possible to say too many good things...

I came in today and the place were decorated with Italian symbolic all over the place which I thought it very resemble to a what a pizza restaurant should look like. I ordered a meatball pizza and it tasted very fresh,authentic and all the spices and seasoning in my mouth was just exploded with joy and happiness. The pizza was absolutely delicious.
