I've been going to this restaurant since I was in diapers, quite literally! I've lived in Castle Rock all my life, and this place has been one of my absolute favorites to dine. They have reasonable prices, serve very large portions, and are friendly and helpful. They always have some chips and salsa ready for you while you wait for your meal, so you're not ever really forced to be starving while you wait, and you get refills whenever you need them. The chips are almost always good quality, and oftentimes they will come to you warm, and the salsa is one of my favorites - simple but good. It's especially good if you can handle a little bit of spice. Their rice and beans leave me craving more every time, and their enchiladas are simple yet palatable enough that I always, always want more. I can not recommend the chicken enchiladas enough. The restaurant's decor gives off a nice, authentic Mexican feeling, and it feels owned and loved by Mexican people themselves. Their music is always authentic sounding as well. Whether you live in the area or you're stopping in for a quick bite to eat on your travels, I can not recommend this place enough. If you like authentic Mexican food, please give this place a try. It's not a super fancy type of restaurant, but the service and food...
Read moreFriendly. Decent Food. Clean. Timely delivery of food to table. Service was good.
On my way through town, I stopped at El Compadre Mexican Restaurant and was very pleased with the service, the food and the cleanliness. Overall, my experience was good. The ground beef nachos I ordered were good but could have been a bit better. The cheese was very heavy (a good thing) but there could have been more layers of chips with cheese between them and overall - more chips piled on the plate.
PROS: Friendly staff. Clean restaurant and surrounding. Easy parking. Handicapped access. Nice views from the restaurant. Prompt service. Good table side service of beverage refills.
CONS: Pricing was a bit high. Charged extra for lettuce. Charged extra for jalapeños. For the little amount given for these additional toppings I felt these should have been treated as a simple add on condiment, no charge. I do understand small town business but price inflation and additional add on pricing for condiments are like charging to add ketchup and pickles to a burger, it's just makes an owner appear a bit 'hungry' for up charge...
Read moreThis place is TERRIBLE!!! I will not be visiting this establishment ever again. I went here with 5 of my friends. The food was disgusting. I ordered tacos, when they came they the meat looked weird and tasted gross. There was a bunch of liquid on my plate. The taco shell was soggy (it was a hard shell). I ordered a Long Island ice tea, when it came there was something big and black floating in the drink. Mr friend ordered a strawberry daiquiri, when her drink showed up the bottom of her glass had crusty stuff stuck to it. There was food splattered on the wall behind my head. There was outdoor bug zappers in the middle of the restaurant over tables. There was crust food on the salt and pepper shakers. The bathroom was filthy. There was a hole in the wall behind the toilet, which was attempted to be cover with a toilet seat cover. I would not recommend this place to...
