My sister was in town the weekend of 8/18/23 and wanted us to take her out for Middle Eastern food. My wife and I hadn't been here since our first visit in Jan. '23. We live in the North Hills, but the food is authentic and very good, so we knew it would be worth the drive. No one was disappointed. We started with the baba, which had that familiar smoky flavor. My sister had a salad and my wife the feta spinach pie. I opted for the sleek, a cooked dish made with spinach, black-eyed peas, bulgar wheat and onions. We all shared the rice pilaf, with vermicelli and toasted almonds, which adds a nice contrast in texture. Sister got the filet kabob, my wife the shish tawook and I the kafta kabob. All of the kabobs came hot off the grill and were moist and flavorful. We topped it off with the homemade baklava, which was also good. The Kabob G Grill is located in Castle Shannon, PA, about a block off of Castle Shannon Blvd., in a small building with a nondescript front. There was ample room inside to be seated away from other diners. It appears to be a family operation, with the mother and father staffing the kitchen and the daughter as the waitress. Service was quick and pleasant, the cooked dishes all arrived freshly-made and everything was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. In fact, the only thing I'd change about this place is the name. I know there is at least one other restaurant in the Greater Pittsburgh area with the word "kabob" in the name. It's located in the North Hills, but I think I'd choose a name that was more distinctive to eliminate any possible confusion and make it memorable for customers. All in all, I highly recommend the Kabob-G Grill if you are looking for authentic, delicious Middle...
Read moreMy sister and I really enjoyed our meal here. We went about 6 PM on Sunday evening and the place was about half filled. No wait for table or for service. To start, the server was excellent. She hustles! She was constantly in motion the whole time we were there and she got our order, explained options, made recommendations and took care of us all evening. Our drinks were refilled without having to track her down or ask. Great service. Food is also excellent and plentiful. We shared a spinach pie (spanikopita without feta), french fries, then each got a sandwich. There was alot of food! We barely finished and even took part of my sandwich home. Each sandwich had plenty of flavorful meat and was perfectly cooked. The fries came on a dinner plate, piled high. I love fries, so this was perfect. The place is very small, not fancy but enjoyable. Do not expect luxury, but instead a great meal in a nice environment. Parking is onstreet, but we had no difficulty on a Sunday but it could be different during the week. There are enough places/streets to park around the restaurant. We will...
Read moreThis Lebanese restaurant offers delicious and affordable food. We started with warm pita bread and babaganoush, a roasted eggplant dip with a tangy flavor. The vegetarian grape leaves were a standout, filled with flavorful rice. We also enjoyed the Mujadarra, lentils and rice topped with caramelized onions, and the spinach feta pie. The service was excellent, with the staff taking good care of us. They had some really nice looking Balklavas that u brought home, as we were very full at the restaurant but did not want to pass up on the chance to taste their signature dessert. The only downside is limited parking, so it's best to go during off-peak times. Despite its small size, the restaurant can accommodate about 10 families at a time. Reservations are recommended, but we were able to get a table without one. Don't miss out on this gem for delicious Lebanese...
