We love this little place! It's a hidden gem, but don't go there because we don't want it to get too crowded, lol! Willow Station is becoming our "Cheers!" place to go and it's an easy walk from home if you live in Castle Shannon, or a convenient trolley ride to the Willow Station stop from elsewhere. A converted-house situation, it's a small and cozy neighborhood bar. Typical bar food, burgers, sandwiches, a selection of full meals etc, we never miss ordering as an appetizer the artichoke dip and veggies and/or pita pieces. The bar has a nice variety of beer and enough of the good stuff to make "on-the-rocks" drinkers happy. The wait staff is efficient and friendly, they always make us feel welcome. TVs in the bar room show Black and Gold games when available and there's a big U-shaped bar in the classic style (with hooks under the bar for your purse or hat because that's huge!) where we usually find room to perch on stools but there are also tables in both rooms. There's also some seating outside in the back for those few days when the weather allows. So if you decide to go there, give us a wave and a smile because we'll be hanging out like...
Read moreate here for the first time last week. They only have adequate food, for a bar. But I don't understand the 4.8 overall average.
Full disclosure, I havent gone to bars for food for at least 20 years. Drinks at all bars are more expensive than if you just purchased them and took them home.
We had a fish sandwich with tater tots and a burger with fries. Both sandwiches were okay/good and the fries were good, but the tater tots were overcooked and too crunchy. Their food menu is only two pages long - So as long as you want limited typical bar-type food you'll probably satisfied. But if you want any type of food beyond that, you'll be disappointed. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. after seeing the 4.8 rating, I'm confused... Are the other bar-type eateries in the area that much worse?
Their limited non-bar table seating area was too noisy; it may have been because the people near us were elderly and potentially hard of hearing. I would probably go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
To be clear, I'm not trying to knock this establishment. Maybe most of the 5-star reviews are made by people who don't...
Read moreParty of 3 went for dinner on a Monday evening in June. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly, and we had a great time. I particularly liked the decor at the place. The wall with the bottle cap art is pretty cool! I had the crispy chicken sandwich with po boy, and it was really good - a bit on the dry side but nothing some ketchup couldn't fix. Came with a side of tater tots which I loved too. Others had the buffalo chicken dip and the cheeseburger with fries. The dip was very tasty and cheesy but also very very hot (not spicy, actual temperature hot). We also had a beer and a diet coke and all in all, tips and taxes included, came to around 60$. We sat in the back room, away from the bar, and it was...
